The colosseum tour was...

The colosseum tour was ok. They moved the 3pm Vatican tour to 2 pm. It was very difficult to rush after the colosseum tour. The metro line A was closed that day and we missed it because they moved the 3pm Vatican tour to 2pm tour. Horribly planned tour because of logistics. They didn’t even allow us because we were 10mins late.

Tour meet point disaster.

Let me start by saying that the review does not reflect the tour guides. Both guides were excellent. The review is about the tour package. The tour included two visits: the Colosseum and the Vatican Museum, which lasted about 5 to 6 hours. We met the first guide who completed the tour, and to oursurprise, I WAS UNAWARE I WAS SUPPOSED TO ARRIVE AT MY SECOND TOUR ON MY OWN. I'm a tourist in an unfamiliar city. The guide was lovely and walked us to the tour office. We took a taxi and spent 40 euros to reach the second meeting point. After running around to get to the meeting point, the Tour company office does not have a guest restroom. A two-tour booking should start and end with the same guide.

Operator response

Dear Customer, we are sorry you had a bad experience, but please let us clarify a couple of things. The transportation between the two sites is not listed in the inclusions of these tour. We are sorry this caused you issues, but it was never indicated that you would've received private transportation between the two sites. Our meeting point for the Colosseum is in a square and, therefore, we can't have a guest bathroom, but you can find plenty inside the Colosseum and the Roman Forum. Even if you made a two-tours booking, you still booked two separate group tours. In these cases is highly possible you are assigned two separate guides. In order to always have the same guide, it's necessary to book a private tour. Best regards, Laura.

GET OUT OF HERE

There was an unforeseen visit to the Coliseum, my son got sick because of the altitude and heat, the agency did not give any support, were rude, gross, poorly polite, we had to lose the immense value spent and we did not realize our dream because the vencia neither remarked nor refunded the money. The guide Sabrina was great but the staff we asked, poorly polite. GET OUT OF HERE

Not a good experience

Way too much time wasted on history lecture, rather than showing us the actual spots and helping with accurate tips Afternoon vesrion was such a torture that we flat out asked the tour person to end it asap and relieve us so we can explore on our own Also English guide means a guide that knows fluent English, not broken and confusing English.

Tour not available in English

The woman giving the tour was very kind and beautiful, I'm sure a wonderful person. However, I couldn’t understand a single word she said in English:( I was straining for over an hour to try to understand her and I decided to just leave early in frustration, forfeiting my $250:( I flew 12 hours to get here to Rome and go to the Coliseum tour and it was a complete waste of time and money:( Avoid if you are seeking an English speaking guide. I texted the company for a partial refund and they never responded to me.

Bad communication

Cancelled the colosseum 1 day prior to tour. Extremely bad communication between Viator tour and the actual tour company. Bad communication with me as to how to get the Vatican portion tour

Best tour for Vatican and Colesium

The tour was excellent. I don’t remember the tour guides name in Vatican tour but he was the 10+ !!!! He knows every single detail. He showed us lots of things and explained lots of details about history.. just the point l have to say that tour doesn’t arrange transportation between tours . You may use metro ( we used to go to Vatican from Colesium ) and taxi ( cheaper than metro for 3 person, we used Fran Vatican to Trevi fountain) short of all tour guides were excellent.

Fantastic Tour Operator!!!

Rome Private Guides is operated by Vivicos International Travel Srl Via Vespasiano 28 Roma, 00192 info@vivicostravel.it + 39 0683936432 + 39 0683936406 and I recommend them very highly! We had booked a Coliseum, Forum, Palantine Hill and a Vatican Museums/Sistine Chapel tour with another company, and one week before our departure were notified that they did not have tix for the Coliseum (despite it being booked 6 weeks prior). So we had to scramble to find a new operator. This company was on my original list and here is why I recommend them so highly: 1). I immediately emailed them on March 27 to ask if they had tickets and tour availability. I received a reply within a few hours from Satu, who I corresponded with over the next several days, and he guaranteed that they definitely had 6 tickets. Relief! Several people in our group had never been to Italy, so this was a big deal! 2). Our morning guide, Nariman, was wonderful. She gave us a wonderful tour of the Coliseum, Forum and Palantine Hill, and we were in a small group to boot! 3). Our Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel guide (sorry do not remember his name), was also good and very knowledgeable. When I return to Italy, I will definitely use this company again!!!! Communication is so vital when we are spending so much money for a once-in-a-lifetime family trip and Rome Private Guides delivered!

Passionate and competent in the Vatican

We were fortunate to have Letizia as a guide to the Vatican museums and the Sistine Chapel. Passionate and competent. The top. Highly recommended.
