Itinerary
Your journey into antiquity begins with the Colosseum, one of the world’s most iconic sights. Your guide will call on their historical and archaeological expertise to tell you all about the battles, both physical and political, that played out in this incredible amphitheater. You might be surprised to learn that ‘Gladiator’ didn’t get everything right and that feats of ancient engineering even allowed the Romans to re-enact naval battles here.
The next stop takes you back to the very beginning. The Palatine Hill is the spot Romulus chose to found the city that would become Rome in 753 BC – a decision that ended in tragedy for his brother Remus. Here, steeped in history, you’ll enjoy spectacular views overlooking your next destination: the Roman Forum.
The Forum and the Via Sacra, the Sacred Way, were the heart of Ancient Rome. All of Roman life could be found in this bustling marketplace: commerce and trade, political rallies, military parades, and the sacred ceremonies of the Vestal Virgins. In just three hours, you’ll experience all that allowed Rome to endure so long – staying immersed in history the entire time, without wasting a moment waiting in line.

Giorgio was an excellent tour guide. Extremely thorough and knowledgeable - - gave us so many details we had never heard before, and this was the fourth time I’ve been to the Colosseum in my life.
It is approximately three hours long. Participants need to be very mobile as there is a lot of walking but it is well worth it!
It was a lot shorter in the colosseum than we expected but we learned a lot and our guide was great!
Isam was an excellent tour guide. Very knowledgeable and friendly. He was very mindful of the group and the weather and would stop for water or the restroom for the group. The views were stunning and we thoroughly enjoyed all of it.
The tour guide was nice and helpful but the tour itself is not worth the effort. She could have summarized it all in a paragraph or two. The place was packed literally body to body. Claustrophobic. I could not wait to exit. Do what most do - arrive, take photos from the outside to prove to your friends you were there and leave.
You haven't been to Rome if you have not seen the Colosseum. Pictures do not do this monument justice. It is magnificent. Makes me imagine what it must have looked like in its prime. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, shared a lot of historical details about the Colosseum and showed us pictures of what the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill would have looked like. It was an experience of a lifetime.
It was amazing to hear Lorenzo Posocco, our guide, share his knowledge of Rome, the Colosseum, the Forum, and Palatine Hill! Not only did he tell a lot, but had pictures and digital replicas of these sites. I had so many questions and his answers segwayed into his next topic. Great guide and great tour.
My guide Sylvia was so amazing. She was super knowledgeable and passionate! I would recommend a this tour.
Georgio was great, kept things moving and a very knowledgeable guide. Got us to the front of the line which saved a lot of waiting. Also pointed us to some unused water fountains to refill bottle which was necessary. There are a lot of stairs on this trip so it is tough for elderly people or people with strollers.
Booked thru Viator. Also had excellent past experiences with Viator with tours all over. Had other excellent Viator tours in Rome. This was not one of them. Show me Italy was the vendor conducting the tour. There was an address given to pick up tickets in advance. That was a wild goose choice. Hard to find and No advance tickets. Someone at the Colosseum ticket office was able to direct us. We found tour. Then tour was 30 + minutes late because they did not have head sets. Headsets arrived and they distributed them. Then they were not the right ones. Had to collect them and re distribute. The guide was only for Palentine Hill and Forum. It was a very hot day. The guide was quite passionate but went into way too much detail and was not good at reading the audience because everybody was ready for this to be over and she lost the attention of all. Late start coupled with tour running beyond allotted time made for a long tour. Luckily we did not have any other plans for the day. Inside Colosseum was changed to on our own and thankful for that.
