Trevi Fountain District Underground Domus Tour and Gelato

Description
Discover what lies beneath the Trevi District on a 45-minute guided tour through its underground passages. At the end, taste a delicious gelato at one of Rome's famous historic ice cream shop. Start making a wish at the iconic Trevi Fountain, the largest Baroque fountain in the city. Next, venture underground to marvel at ruins that date all the way back to Ancient Rome. This history comes to life with the help of a professional guide, who will explain the story behind the Vicus Caprarius archaeological area. See how the water that flows from the Trevi Fountain filters through the ancient masonry of the archaeological area, continuing to supply the pipes and the pools of the luxurious Domus residence. Then, at the end of the tour, taste a delicious gelato at one of Rome's famous historic ice cream shops at the Trevi Fountain

Itinerary
The structures of an imperial imperial domus, the castellum aquae of the Virgin Aqueduct and the evocative exhibits (including the famous face of Alessandro helios), finds discovered during the renovation of the former Cinema Trevi. On a journey backward in time, it is possible to touch Rome’s millennial stratification and observe the archaeological evidence of the great events that characterised the city’s history, from the realisation of Aqua Virgo to the fire of Nero, from the sack of Alarico to the siege of the Goths.
The most famous of the Roman fountains: a jewel of water and stone. It is tradition during your citytrip Rome to throw a coin into the Fontana di Trevi – keep your eyes closed and throw the coin into the water over your left shoulder using your right hand. According to legend, the person who throws the coin will one day return to Rome. Did you throw two coins into the fountain? You will find your love in Rome. Prefer to get married (or divorced)? Throw three coins into the fountain. Every week, the municipality of Rome cleans the Fontana di Trevi and donates a large portion of the proceeds (1.4 million annually) to a charity that helps poor families.

Excellent tour! Erica was the best guide, so knowledgeable about the history of Rome, and she made it interesting as well. I could have listened to her all day! You will have earbuds to hear well. The space is not big, but there is so much to see. I can’t imagine not having a guide, you would have no idea what you are looking at. Also get tickets to go down to the front of the Trevi Fountain, and a voucher for gelato at the shop right in front of the fountain. This is my fourth time in Rome, and this tour is one of my favorites we’ve done. Also is not too long and you have to to explore the area on your own. Highly recommend!
Our tour guide Erica was extremely knowledgeable and made the museum worth going to. There is no way we would have gotten as much out of it via the audio guide. If you want to visit the museum, book this guided tour.
While I thought there was more to the Trevi Underground, the guide was wonderful. Make sure you know that the Underground portion is about the length of a living room and dining room. However, the guide Naomi was superb.
This tour was the most informative tour i have been on. I didn't realise the hour was up. The tour guide was amazing. I would recommend this tour to everyone who comes to Rome. 10 out of 10
Our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, professional and friendly. She explained everything so everyone could understand and grasp the layers of history. I would highly recommend thus tour and she should be applauded for her ethics.
extremely interesting, incredible insight into the water workings, skip the line to get close to the fountain a plus.
The Trevi Fountain Guided tour was perfectly organised and the Guide Erica was great fun. Well done
Such a great experience, history in every step. Erica, our guide, was welcoming and so informative, brought history to life with her knowledge and passion for Rome. Her ability to highlight each era of Rome using the layers of the exposed underground cistern and how each era was built on to improve conditions, detailing the Roman recycling system, the aquaducts that feed the beautiful fountains and their use today. Simply mindblowing. A must do for anyone coming to Rome. Grazie Mille Erica!
