Itinerary
This enchanting day trip from Rome begins with a 40-minute bus ride to Hadrian’s Villa. The vastness of Hadrian’s estate is a sight that will surely impress. The Emperor chose to build his residence outside the city in a place rich in water, in order to build the famous Canopus, one of the most preserved sites left in the complex. The statues surrounding this pool of water create stunning reflections on its surface, beautifully surrounded by luscious green gardens.
We will leave the alluring ruins of the 2nd century A.D. far behind as we travel on to the 14th century to our second destination, Villa d’Este - one of the most beautiful Renaissance villas in Italy. This splendid palace, with its extraordinary gardens filled with hundreds of fountains, will leave you feeling captivated. Bernini’s monumental Neptune’s Fountain is considered the most impressive, its water jets reaching a height of 10 meters. Not to say that the Central Fountain and the Oval Fountain won’t leave you equally in awe.

There is a lot of ground to cover. The guide, Martia, was great but you need to pay attention, be on time, and move at a fairly fast pace. The lunch was substantial and good with pitchers of wine on the table.
Hadrians Villa needed more historical context. Huge place. Should have given more information. Expensive for what we got. Rushed.
Very nice overview of both the antique (Emperor Hadrian) and more contemporary (papal times) villas in the area. Knowledgeable guide and friendly atmosphere.
A wonderful tour and so worth having a knowledgeable guide like Giuseppe take us to both of these incredble locations.
Truly unique places away from the hustle and bustle of Roma. Must see! You won't be disappointed! And it's only 30 minutes outside the city. Guide, as usual, was fantastic!!!

A convenient way to see Hadrian’s Villa from Rome. It was good to have a knowledgeable and friendly guide but it would have been nice to have just a little bit more time at Hadrian’s (there is so much to see!). The visit to Tivoli was nice - we would have not seen Villa D’Este if not for the tour. The fresco rooms of the villa were just stunning but unfortunately we were rushed through them to get out to see/hear the organ fountain. It would have made more sense to have less time for lunch in Tivoli and to have started the walk through of Villa D’Este earlier. Small group of 15 was good.
Hadrian Villa is amazing. Villa d'Este is beautiful. Alessia, our guide is very nice, helpful and knowledgabke about the sites. Overall a wonderful tour.
