Important Information

  • Public transportation options are available nearby
  • Suitable for all physical fitness levels
  • Do I need to follow a dress code when visiting mosques? Yes — mosques in Istanbul have a strict dress code, and following it ensures a smooth, respectful visit. Women should wear long, loose clothing that fully covers arms, legs, and hair. Men must cover their shoulders and ensure their shorts or trousers go below the knee. If clothing doesn’t meet the required standards, mosque staff may refuse entry — so it’s best to come prepared.
  • What if I forget something? Many mosques offer scarves and wraps at the entrance. Your guide will also let you know before entering so you have time to adjust.
  • How much walking is involved in this tour? Half‑Day Tour (3.5 hours): You’ll walk approximately 2.4 km, spread out across easy, mostly flat paths in the Sultanahmet area. Full‑Day Discovery Tour (8.5 hours): The full itinerary covers around 3.5 km in total, including Topkapı Palace and Hagia Sophia. The pace is relaxed, with plenty of breaks and time to explore comfortably.
  • What is the duration of the tour? The morning tour lasts 3.5 hours, giving you a complete introduction to the highlights of Sultanahmet. If you’d like to continue exploring, you can upgrade to the Full‑Day Discovery Tour, which extends the experience to 8.5 hours and includes lunch, Topkapı Palace, and Hagia Sophia.
  • What is included in the 3.5‑hour Half‑Day Tour? The Half‑Day experience includes everything you need for a rich introduction to the Sultanahmet area. You’ll explore with a local English‑speaking guide, visit the Sahaflar Book Bazaar and the Grand Bazaar, enjoy Turkish tea at a local tea house, walk through the Ancient Hippodrome, and enter the Blue Mosque.
  • What extra is included if I book the 8.5‑hour Full‑Day Discovery Tour? If you choose the Full‑Day option, your morning tour continues after a short break. You’ll enjoy a sit‑down lunch at a local restaurant, then follow your guide into Topkapı Palace to explore its courtyards, Harem, Treasury, and stunning Bosphorus views. You’ll also visit Hagia Sophia with a full guided explanation. All entrance fees are included.
  • If I book the Full‑Day Discovery Tour (8.5 hours) what should I expect for lunch, and can you accommodate my dietary restrictions? Our local guides will lead you to the best authentic spots for lunch. Here is what you need to know: Dietary Requirements: We can accommodate most dietary needs, including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. Please let us know your requirements at the time of booking. Meal Inclusion: For full-day itineraries, lunch is included and consists of a one-course meal plus one soft drink/water.
  • On Sundays, the Spice Bazaar will be visited instead of the Grand Bazaar.

Istanbul Conquered Tour

I just have done Istanbul Conquered Tour with a local guider Yağiz Yenidünya. A special thank you to Yağiz and his guide, whose knowledge and enthusiasm made the city come alive and helped us appreciate Istanbul even more. Istanbul was one of the most fascinating cities I have ever visited. The city beautifully blends rich history, stunning architecture, and modern culture. Walking through the Grand Bazaar, visiting the Blue Mosque and Hagia Sophia, and cruising along the Bosphorus were unforgettable experiences. The people were welcoming, the food was delicious, and there was always something interesting to discover around every corner. From the vibrant streets to the breathtaking views, Istanbul offers a unique atmosphere unlike anywhere else in the world. If anyone in Istanbul needs a local guide, please look for Yağiz, he is just amazing.

Grand Bazaar Sultanahmet Istanbul

This bazaar is a pricey place to rent for the shopkeepers and so these guys want to extract the maximum amount of money for goods. The products are mediocre and one should be selective in choosing your items. Sellers are very argumentative & love to pick an argument. I didn’t enjoy my visit there. The jewelry is overpriced & no guarantee of authenticity.

Could have been better

This tour was ok, while we visited two beautiful mosques, the Grand Bazaar potion was lacking. We literally walked in through one gate, across one aisle, and out another gate. There wasn't much history or information provided about the Bazaar itself or it's layout, which is what were really interested in. We did however stop by the Spice Bazaar and had a bit of time to buy some teas, spices and Turkish delight. Our guide was a bit late showing up, approximately 15 minutes which I guess isn't a big deal for Turkish standards but we had no one to contact to find out what was going on. We called the number listed on the voucher but there was no answer.

Could have been better

The tour was ok, visited two beautiful mosques however the tour of the grand bazaar was lacking. We literally just walked in one entrance and out the other. There was not much explanation of the history of the bazaar or about it's layout. We did however get a chance to go to the spice bazaar, which wasn't on the original itinerary, and purchased some spices, teas and Turkish delight.

This was the name of the tour we did with Sefa. He was a terrific guide. Knowledgeable and interested in all things from ancient history to contemporary happenings. We really enjoyed our time with him and would have liked to take the longer Istanbul Conquored with this guide. Thank you Sefa for a wonderful introduction to the city and its history!

Great tour with great guide

I went for the "Istanbul Sightseeing Tour Including Grand Bazaar, Suleymaniye Mosque and Sultanahmet". I got Tolga Kinas as my guide, and I would say the guide made the tour amazing. Knowledgeable, fluent in English, friendly and respectful. As for the tour itself, great way to get a quick snapshot of a few attractions, and you can go off to explore them in detail. Also perfect if you have a few awkward hours to kill which are too short for an in-depth tour or too short to just wait around and do nothing.

Racist Guide was a Disappointment

The guide was very knowledgeable. But towards the end she informed us that Jews are infiltrating some mosques and intentionally misleading the Turkish worshipers to acts that are not Islamic (because they can't read Arabic, the language of the Quran, they are taken advantage of). I found this totally unacceptable in 2018, old fashion antisemitism, in an international business. I wrote to Intrepid head office in Australia but they are ignoring me, complicit in this racism.

A great way to get your bearings for the city

This was a great way to start a trip to Istanbul. Tolga was a fun and knowledgeable guide. To note licenced tour guides in Turkey are have a lot of training. They need to be proficient in language and the history to licenced. These guys operate a great business.
