100% recommend

Emel was our guide and she was wonderful! We were contacted via WhatsApp the day before and were picked up on time for our tour. Emel met us at the Hippodrome and off we went! She was extremely knowledgeable about all of the history in the area and answered any and all questions we asked. A highlight of the tour was getting to visit a co-op where we learned how they make Turkish rugs, which are truly a work of art. I would 100% recommend this tour and a big THANK YOU to Emel for going above and beyond.

Expected more, received less

This was a highly disappointing tour. We purchased our tickets for entry to places in advance and our guide (Aytac) admonished us for doing so, saying he could have gotten our tickets. This was not in the original description of the tour and has since been added. Additionally, we were taken to places to be sold items and it was presented as a cultural experience. An example of this is that Aytac said “do you want to see a silk worm?” and proceeded to take us to a carpet store where we were held and pressured by salespeople to purchase expensive carpets. Then, he took us to the bazaar where he said “would you like to see Turkish leather” where we were taken to a store of fake goods where the door was closed behind us, making us very uncomfortable. He then took us to a restaurant where he proceeded to add his meal to our ticket. Additionally, the restaurant overcharged us by 1000 lira, causing us to wait and miss valuable time to fix this. Lastly, at the end of the tour we were not provided the transportation to our next destination that was expected. Overall, I felt cheated out of some of the experiences because the guide was focused on taking us places to get a commission rather than giving us the cultural experience we were looking for. Our tour was on 6/26/2026.

Amazing Private GUIDE! Worth every $

Sabit made our Istanbul experience. He is incredibly knowledgeable, academically sharp, and genuinely passionate about the city's history. We booked a custom half-day tour and came away feeling like we got the full tourist experience plus so much more. He skipped the lines for us, connected us with wonderful vendors at the markets, and took us to the best restaurant we ate at during our entire trip. Every question we asked was answered thoughtfully and thoroughly. We will absolutely call on Sabit the next time we are in Istanbul — and we will not hesitate to recommend him to anyone visiting the city.

Nice and Easy!

John made our trip to Istanbul very pleasant. Unlike big group tours, we felt like we were experiencing the city as a local. He knew exactly when to visit the major sites to avoid the queues and introduced us to the best street food along the way. Loved the experience. Thank you!

Savas is better than 5 stars!

Savas was absolutely exceptional. The depth of knowledge, attention to detail, and genuine passion for Istanbul’s history made this one of the best tours we’ve ever experienced. Savas went above and beyond to ensure we had an incredible experience, taking the time to answer every question and share fascinating stories that brought the city to life. A memorable touche was bringing an iPad loaded with historical photos and reconstructions. Being able to compare the ancient city with what stands today made the history so much more meaningful and easy to visualize. It truly transformed the experience from simply seeing landmarks into understanding their incredible past. If you’re looking for a guide who is engaging, incredibly knowledgeable, and genuinely committed to providing an unforgettable experience, we couldn’t recommend Savas more highly. Five stars!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such an extraordinary and thoughtful review! We are truly honored that your experience on our ISTANBUL BEST: Iconic Landmarks Full-Day PRIVATE Guided City Tour with Savaş became one of the finest travel experiences you have ever had. Reading comments like yours is incredibly rewarding because they perfectly reflect the experience we strive to create for every guest who visits Istanbul. Your wonderful comments about Savaş mean more than words can express. As a passionate licensed local guide, Savaş believes that history should never be presented as a list of dates or names, but as a fascinating story that allows visitors to truly understand the remarkable civilizations that shaped Istanbul over thousands of years. His enthusiasm for history, archaeology, architecture, religion, art, and Turkish culture allows him to transform every stop into an engaging learning experience where every monument has its own remarkable story. We are especially delighted that you appreciated his exceptional attention to detail and genuine passion for sharing Istanbul’s rich heritage. Explaining the rise and fall of the Roman Empire, the glory of the Byzantine Empire, and the magnificent legacy of the Ottoman Empire while standing inside the very places where history unfolded creates an experience that simply cannot be replicated through books or audio guides. Understanding these connections allows visitors to appreciate not only the beauty of Istanbul’s monuments but also their global historical significance. Your comments about the historical photographs and digital reconstructions on Savaş’s iPad are especially meaningful. This innovative presentation has become one of the most appreciated parts of his tours. Being able to compare the ancient appearance of Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, the Hippodrome, the Grand Bazaar, and other iconic sites with what stands today creates an immersive journey through time. It allows guests to visualize centuries of transformation and better understand the extraordinary architectural achievements that have made Old City Istanbul (Sultanahmet) one of the world’s most important UNESCO World Heritage sites. One of the greatest compliments in your review is that Savaş answered every question with patience and enthusiasm. A Private Istanbul Tour offers something that group tours simply cannot provide—the opportunity for genuine conversation, unlimited questions, and a completely personalized experience. Whether discussing Byzantine mosaics, Ottoman palace life, Islamic architecture, Turkish traditions, archaeology, politics, religion, or everyday life in modern Turkey, Savaş enjoys tailoring every conversation to the interests of his guests. This flexibility ensures that no two tours are ever exactly the same. We are equally pleased that your experience extended beyond Istanbul’s famous monuments. We believe the soul of the city is discovered not only in its magnificent architecture but also through its people, traditions, flavors, and craftsmanship. Throughout the day, our guests have the opportunity to enjoy authentic local Turkish food, taste refreshing traditional Turkish drinks, visit carefully selected traditional local shops, admire beautiful handmade ceramics, discover the centuries-old tradition of Turkish carpet weaving, and meet skilled local artisans who continue preserving techniques passed down through generations. These authentic cultural experiences allow visitors to connect with Istanbul in a much deeper and more meaningful way while supporting family-owned businesses and traditional craftsmanship. At the heart of our ISTANBUL BEST: Iconic Landmarks Full-Day PRIVATE Guided City Tour is the belief that every guest deserves an experience that is completely personalized. Rather than following a rigid schedule, Savaş carefully adapts each tour according to the interests, pace, and preferences of his guests. Whether someone is passionate about history, architecture, photography, archaeology, religion, local cuisine, shopping, hidden gems, or simply enjoying the atmosphere of Istanbul’s historic neighborhoods, every itinerary becomes a unique journey designed specifically for them. Our goal has always been to offer much more than a sightseeing tour. We want every visitor to leave Istanbul with a genuine understanding of why this extraordinary city has fascinated emperors, sultans, merchants, travelers, artists, and historians for over two millennia. Combining Istanbul’s best iconic landmarks, authentic cultural experiences, fascinating historical storytelling, local traditions, Turkish hospitality, delicious cuisine, traditional drinks, artisan workshops, magnificent Turkish carpets, beautiful ceramics, and unforgettable personal connections creates an experience that remains with our guests long after they return home. Knowing that Savaş’s professionalism, kindness, expertise, and dedication made your visit so memorable is one of the greatest compliments we could receive. We are incredibly proud to have him on our team, and we will be delighted to share your thoughtful review with him. We know your generous words will inspire him to continue sharing his passion for Istanbul with travelers from all over the world. Our family party of six was staying in Istanbul a day before we boarded a cruise of the Aegean Sea. Touring Istanbul in one day was a tall order for our fabulous guide Anil, but he exceeded our expectations. He was extremely knowledgable, friendly, and accommodating. A fabulous time with Fettah

Had a full day private tour that we took on our Viking cruise. The tour saw all of the highlights and I feel we saw more than we possibly could have doing a cruise booking. Farrah was so nice and very knowledgable. He had great suggestions and was always making sure we were happy and seeing what we wanted to see. He met us and dropped us off at the Galataport. We did a private car and it helped avoid using the trams. I would do this tour again in a heartbeat as long as it was with Fettah! The best way to see all the important highlights of Istanbul is the short time we had there (1 day).
