Sterkfontein and Maropeng

Beyond fascinating. The Cave does have 1 spot that you need to scramble to get through but this senior citizen did just fine. Great guide and he gave us info of the area while in the car

Caves worth a visit but some issue with this tour

This tour essentially visits two places, the caves and the Maropeng visitors centre. The tour guide at the caves was excellent and the visit was very enjoyable. However although a guide gave a short intro at the Maropeng centre we were then left on our own. This tour is also quite expensive for what you get - we calculated that taking Ubers and paying the entry would be about half the price. Also the driver really did not much other than drive the car - no commentary or guiding of any kind. On the way back he seemed to think he was in an F1 race, regularly touching 140km/h and driving inches away from the vehicle in front. Not ideal. So while both these locations are worth a visit, it’s probably worth looking at other options than this tour.
