Itinerary
Visit to the Pena Palace terraces and Park, one of the best representations of 19th century Romanticism in Europe. Being the second-highest point in the Serra de Sintra (over 500m above sea level), it will amaze you with its unique architecture and spectacular views. King Ferdinand II - the king-artist - fell in love with Sintra, and following the purchase of the property, decided to build a unique castle and park, with 500 plant species from all corners of the world. The palace incorporates Manueline and Moorish architectural influences, that together will give you an atmosphere of “a thousand and one nights.”. An unforgettable experience (see ticket options - terraces and viewpoints or interior rooms).
In the center of Sintra you can either stay in the village, view the National Palace or walk to visit Regaleira (tickets not included). Also, a great option is to stay, and enjoy the wonders of this beautiful medieval little town, walking the narrow streets, feel the local atmosphere and then grab a coffee and try local pastry "Travesseiro".
Regaleira is a 19th century Villa, known as Palácio da Regaleira. Located in the center of Sintra, it was bought by a Portuguese businessman who was fascinated by secret orders such as Freemasonry and the Templars. Regaleira was transformed into a palace surrounded by gardens, lakes, caves and enigmatic constructions, symbolic places, typical of secret societies and rituals. A unique monument influenced by Romantic, Neo-Gothic and Manueline architecture. When in Sintra you can walk to see Quinta da Regaleira (in case you wish to visit please book 11h30 slot, on the official shop: regaleira by blueticket .
Sintra National Palace is one of the most important royal palaces from the 12th century, built by the moors initially, and later further developed and expanded during different monarchs' reign. This was one of the most important political centers, during the discoveries of the 15th and 16th centuries. It has the most relevant moorish ceramic tiles collection in Portugal.
We will stop at Cabo Roca, the westernmost point of continental Europe. After your Sintra's visit, you will stop here to take pictures, get a bit of fresh air, and relax.
Cascais will amaze you, with its mix of a little fishing village, together with the sophistication of a place where kings and queens would spend part of their summer. Time to relax and enjoy the views
A quick view of Estoril, where kings were living and spies would come to meet during World War II. Fancy James Bond? You will know a bit of history also.

This was my partner and I’s first time in Portugal and we wanted to fit Sintra in and see a few more things, and this was just perfect. Our guide Pedro was so knowledgeable about the history of Portugal, Sintra, and Cascais, and gave excellent recommendations for each of our planned stops. He made all of the exhibits/monuments/sites come to life with his narration. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect first trip and overview of these areas. Thank you, Pedro!
What an excellent day we had with Filipe our brilliant and knowledgeable guide. There were just 7 of us on the tour. There was a good balance of guided tour/walks and free time.
Fabulous experience. I really appreciated all of the historical information that Pedro provided, peppered with “fun facts” now and again. Definitely recommend.
Enjoy the day trip with so many things to see. Very lively vibe with Cascais and Sintra. Our guide Philip is amazing and so knowledgeable about the history and the sites.
Scheduling and ticketing was easy No need to worry about all the logistics of our trip once the day came. All handled! David was knowledgeable and friendly, kept on the schedule. Picked us up right on time with a night before communication. It was well worth the money spent.
Our guide David was great, very helpful with great knowledge about the history of Lisabon, Sintra and Portugal itself. We had a bad weather - rain and fog but David did his best to entertain the entire group and show as as much as possible. We traveled with a five year old and it was a great experience for her too, not exhausting at all.
The sites were all worth it and Filipe was an excellent guide - punctual, knowledgeable and kind.
Felipe was a great guide Very informative. Good driver. Explained our stops and history of the area well. Accommodating.
Filipe made our tour an unforgettable experience. He was incredibly knowledgeable, warm, and engaging throughout the day. We were impressed not only by his depth of knowledge and passion for Portuguese history, but also by his ability to effortlessly lead us up the steep path to Pena Palace while sharing fascinating stories and insights every step of the way! His enthusiasm, professionalism, and personable nature made the tour both educational and enjoyable. We highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Lisbon. Thank you again, Filipe, for such a wonderful experience!
Thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Felipe was a wonderful guide and soo much history and knowledge was given. I really appreciate him taking the time and especially since I was traveling solo. 100% recommend and Felipe is the best guide!
