We showed up on time and the ticket agents said they would not let us in because our tickets had expired!!?! We had to wait for about 20 minutes to get the ticket agents to contact the company that issued the tickets to arrange a solution. As it turned out, even though we finally got the problem solved, we would have SAVED TIME by just waiting on line. This way of seeing the Cistern was a waste of money.
It was a very worthwhile experience - we chose to go late afternoon and with our pre arranged tickets we’re able to walk straight in . The audio was helpful to understand the complexities of the cistern. Would recommend.
The Basilica Cistern was amazing. Amazing architecture for the 6th century. The sculpture of Medusa and shadows added to its mystical feel of the place. But not really sure why it was there as there was no explanation provided.
Basilica Cistern was very impressive. We chose an early timeslot and downloaded the audio guide, which was very informative. A feat of engineering to admire.
