Itinerary
Arrive at the base of Civita di Bagnoregio, an ancient village perched on a crumbling volcanic plateau. Cross the dramatic pedestrian bridge that connects this isolated town to the modern world, with sweeping valley views on both sides.
Next, head into the Montepulciano countryside to visit a family-run winery. To start, sample typical local products such as pecorino, prosciutto, salame, capocollo, and bruschetta with olive oil. If time allows, you may also have the chance to explore the small cellar museum. After the tasting, sit down for a warm, rustic meal featuring handmade pici pasta with traditional aglione sauce. Pair lunch with three wines, then finish with cantucci and Vin Santo.
Continue to Pienza for 1 hour of free time in this Renaissance hill town. Walk the honey-colored streets, browse local food shops, and take in broad Val d’Orcia views that look like a painted landscape.

We really appreciate it. - Thank you, Paola, for accompanying and guiding us throughout the day. We spent an intense and wonderful day. Civita di Bagnoregio truly amazed us: it is a beautiful and fascinating place. Even though the journey was long and the heat was really intense, we were very happy and enjoyed every moment. Thank you again for your companionship, kindness, and explanations throughout the day. We really appreciate it.
Fantastic experience. Civita di Bagnoregio and Pienza are two jewels that must be seen absolutely. The guide, Giuliano, is exceptional. Very knowledgeable and friendly, he makes everyone feel at ease. The lunch and the tasting of delicious wines were great; I ate very well, all artisanal products.
What a wonderful way to see the Tuscany countryside off the beaten path, as well as The Dying City, Pulcino family farm and restaurant, and the gorgeous city of Piensa. Guiliano was an OUTSTANDING guide. He apparently does this tour a couple times a week so you’d be lucky to get him. He is very organized and is such an excellent English speaker!!!! He was attentive to the solo guests, families, and traveling friends. On our tour there was an older man with a bad knee, and Guiliano kept an eye out for him and made sure he had time and still kept the group moving efficiently. He was just so kind to all. His knowledge of history, geology, and cultures was extensive and extremely helpful in understanding what we saw making it even more impressive.
Guilano was a fantastic! Took great care to ensure we were well taken care of and also rolled with it when we hit a little rain. My daughter and I had a great time on this tour. Each stop was fun and memorable! Beautiful scenery!
This was a great tour to Tuscany from Rome. It started early and after sharing a few key things we needed to know and a little about herself, our guide Marilena let us sleep for part of the two hours to our first stop. Marilena was a great tour guide. She was knowledgeable, funny, and gave incredibly clear directions. She helped us feel like locals in a place we were visiting for the first time. Civita do Bagnoregio is a must see. Lots of walking. Wear good shoes, bring water, especially in summer months. The stop for lunch was fascinating at Pulcino. It was of course delicious. Lots of wine, lots of history, good food. Final stop in Pienza felt a little rushed but we did so much in one tour we were grateful for one more stop to see a gem like Pienza. You need to search for Buon Gusto Gelateria in Pienza! After a quick nap on the ride home, Marilena shared some tips for where to eat and what to order that evening, some local sayings and important hand gestures that had us cracking up. Great trip, even better guide. Definitely try to book with Marilena!
The director explained the trip in detail, the lunch was delicious, the Italian bread was good, and the driver was good at driving.
What a great day visiting Tuscany with the Tour Guy! Our guide Antonina was very knowledgeable, easy to understand, and welcoming. Civita di Bagnoregio is breathtaking. It’s a bit of a trek in the hot Tuscan sun but well worth it. I’d recommend getting his tour if you’re looking to get out of Rome for the day at a reasonable price.
Hi, Thank you so much for the wonderful review. We are so happy to hear you had a great day escaping Rome to explore Tuscany with us. Antonina is fantastic at making everyone feel welcome and sharing her knowledge, so I will be sure to pass your kind words along to her. Civita di Bagnoregio really is a breathtaking sight, and we are glad that steep trek was well worth it for you, even under the hot sun. We truly appreciate your recommendation and hope you brought home some amazing memories from your time in Italy.
