Good Trip to Florence

This was a great day trip to Florence! It was very convenient to be picked up at our hotel and brought to the train station. Taking the train was very easy and our guide led us through the whole process. While on the train, we learned from our guide that this tour did not include tickets to see the statue of David and they were sold out online. Our guide said she was going to get tickets for two of the members of our group but we had to figure it out on our own. Thankfully, we were able to, on our own, quickly book a tour through Viator, for an additional cost, to see the David and got a time later that day. After arriving in Florence, and after a walking tour, we were handed off to a different tour guide who took us through the Uffizi Galleries. Be advised, there is no a/c and it was very hot and stifling during the long museum tour. The tour guide expounded more than was necessary and was insensitive to the effects of the heat on the tour group. When the tour was over, we recommend eating at the rooftop outdoor dining cafe of the Uffizi Galleries. It was welcomed after the museum tour. The rest of the tour consisted of walking around Florence with free time later in the day, allowing us to go on our tour to see the statue of David. We then had to make our own way back to the train station, walking around 30 minutes. We then met back with our first tour guide. Overall, Florence was beautiful and worth the effort.

Thank you for taking the time to share such a detailed review! We're glad that you found Florence beautiful and that the convenience of the hotel pickup and train journey helped make the day enjoyable. It's also wonderful to know that your first guide supported the group throughout the travel experience. Thank you as well for sharing your thoughts about the Uffizi visit. We recognize that high temperatures can impact the overall experience, especially during busy periods. We're pleased that you were able to enjoy some free time in the city and ultimately visit the Statue of David. Thank you again for your valuable feedback, and we hope to welcome you on another Italian adventure in the future. Best regards, Gray Line I Love Rome

Amazing Day Trip To Florence

I loved having a guide meet us at the train station in Rome with our train tickets in hand … We met her exactly where the meeting place was scheduled .. We arrived an hour early and had amazing cappuccino and pastries across the street at a cafe ( best fresh squeezed red orange juice that I have ever tasted ).. Our guide went onto the train with us to Florence .. In Florence , she walked us to where she handed us off to a local Florence guide for a semi private tour of the Uffizi museum . That local guide and the Uffizi tickets were included in the price … We separately booked tickets at 1:00 pm to visit the Academie museum to see The David statute , Michelangelo’s famous 17 foot statue that established him as a rock star of his era ( to make it to the Academie we let our Uffizi guide know and he cut our tour a bit short )… After seeing David , we had a very nice lunch at an outside restaurant table .. We still had time to shop the leather good shops for which Florence is famous , and meet our guide at 5:30 to walk back to the train for the short 1 hour 20 minute ride back to Rome … Travel pointer , taxi stand at the train station can be an hour wait .. Create an Uber account before you travel and use Uber to get to your hotel .. The Uber pick up point is to the right of the train station exit in front of the pharmacy … Uber is generally the same or less than a taxi … Our day in Florence was amazing , and our Trip Advisor friends made it special

Quick Way to See Highlights of Florence in a Day

If you are time limited in Italy, this was a great way to get a taste of Florence. We had only 3 days in Rome ahead of a cruise and the combination of train and guided tour of key parts of Florence was ideal. Francesca’s a good job keeping a diverse group organized and Elena did a wonderful job in the Uffici Museum explaining some of the classics. Enjoyable day.
