Rome St. Peter’s Basilica and Vatican Grottoes Guided Tour

Received several communications from your company confirming time and date. On the day of the excursion, we received a final confirmation and time. We arrived half an hour early and had a horrible time finding the meet up spot - it was in a small corner of a large open square. Someone from the tour company told us that the tour was rescheduled for 2:00 pm. We asked why we weren’t contacted and she said Viator did not provide information. We were extremely disappointed and did not get to see the Vatican because we left the next day.

Not really as described. We had difficulty finding the meeting place. We left slightly behind schedule and the guide told us we needed to hurry and keep up — he wasn’t going to slow his pace for anybody. It was 100 degrees. We did not visit the grottos. Guide was knowledgeable but not tuned in to his audience.

Peter was a great guide. I've visited St Peter's in the past on a tour, and this go-around gave us a ton of additional information and background material. It was well worth it.

Pieter was a fantastic guide - high energy, superb knowledge and a clear passion for history. Definitely worth the time and money - I learned a lot more than I possibly could have on my own in more than twice the time!

It was very interesting and well well organised. The tour guide was excellent. There was a problem when the guide's microphone but she managed to sort it out.

Excellent tour by Sam. He was engaging, very knowledgeable and pleasant. If you're lucky enough to have him as a guide you will not be disappointed.

The tour itself was incredible, Peter, our guide was incredibly knowledgeable and kept our attention for the entire tour. I am disabled and can’t queue, therefore when we got to the Vatican, he showed me where I could enter and wait, where there were a couple of chairs for the rest of the group to catch me up. His English was excellent and he answered any questions asked of him. The only thing you need to know, which isn’t stated, is when you get to the square to meet your guide, you need to register, there you get a coloured sticker and are directed to your guide. You check in next to the caffe in the square. There are desks with flags up, where too need to show your voucher.

The tour guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about St. Peter’s and Rome in general. I learned so much. I would highly recommend the tour. It brought so much more meaning to what we were seeing.

Our guide Peter led us charmingly, entertainingly and very grippingly first through the almost 1 hour queue and then through the cathedral. He had very interesting background information ready to tell as well as philosophical and witty anecdotes and facts. A wonderful trip through time.
