Description

This is a must-see! The place where the Jews were once confined and which has now become the heart of the Jewish community in Rome. Grab the chance to visit the Jewish sites with a local official tour guide from the Jewish community of Rome, and do not be afraid to get in contact if you want to take the tour in the afternoon. Everything is slow and relaxed, and a stark contrast to the hectic lifestyle of the rest of the city. The lovely Rome Synagogue and Jewish Museum are also located here and constitute a fundamental chapter of Jewish history. On Shabbath we can give you the chance to have a nice guided stroll in the Jewish quarter as well, without visiting the museum and synagogue, so no entrance tickets to be paid, no hearing devices in this case. A wonderful & heart breaking walk through time

It was a very informative tour of the Jewish ghetto. Our family learned a lot and continued to ask questions to further our understanding. Our guide Sarah had so much valuable knowledge on this part of history and was so welcoming. She showed items or places to interest our kids and keep them engaged. I suggest everyone take this tour.

Sarah a Gem!

Sara was a gem. She really bought the whole Jewish quarter alive. Her knowledge is truly insightful. She really explained how passed and present the Jewish community of Rome works. I would tell anyone if they want a real in depth tour of the Jewish Quarter. Sarah is the best guide to have.

Wonderful and informative

This was a wonderful tour with an extremely knowledgeable tour guide, Sara Terracina. The details and information Sara was able to provide was so interesting and captivating. Sara was also only too happy to answer any questions we had. Sara also does tours to other parts of Rome and if we had of known this, we certainly would have engaged her to do the other tours. But unfortunately this was our last tour in Rome. We would certainly engage Sara next time we are in Rome.

Beware and stay far away from this one!!

Horrible tour operator.. did not show up at designated spot and then lied she was there. Refused to refund my husband and I $329 we paid for a no-show tour. Additionally, she did not answer any of my messages through Viator app claiming she was not using Viator app for communication. We showed up at meeting spot designated on Viator ticket 10 minutes before the tour time. Asked everyone who walked by if they were the tour leader. People thought we were nuts. There is absolutely no way she was ever there but she keeps lying she was. And Viator refuses to refund if the operator will not. So beware!!!!

Operator response

Madame, you gave a different phone number when you booked the tour, and you didn't show up at the meeting point, but I was there sharp on time and other clients were there too and the tour did operate. Once I got in contact with you and I told you about the wrong contact information/mobile phone number you told me that it was not my problem because you booked through Viator, then I asked where you were, you told me you went around the buildings and that you asked information to the Holocaust Museum, which was not even included as attraction to visit in the tour you booked. Then you said you went to the Jewish Museum, and also there nobody saw me while I was there giving the tour? I have witness and the video cameras were on. Clients who booked your same tour, on the same day and starting time, who had me as tour guide, attended the tour, loved it, made pictures and made the review. To Viator I gave also the option, after the tour you booked small group tour finished, to take you on the same tour as private, giving you my extra time and free of charge. Well, you are attempting a damage to my professional reputation, while you proved to be who you are by yelling at me in the middle of finding a solution, threatening me on the phone and hang up on me. Frankly, the only person to be aware of is you, you paid for a semi private, small group tour, which requested you to be on time at a meeting point. After the starting time written on the ticket the tour will start and the guide will take care of the clients who arrived on time.

A Jewish couple from the United States learning, and seeing the history of our ancestor's.

The tour Sarah gave us of the Jewish ghetto was the highlight of our entire trip. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and took the time to answer all of our questions. The tour took on a personal perspective, Sarah knew how to educate us, while giving us the feeling of love for her community. This tour is something I will always treasury and highly recommend to anyone who is planning a trip to Rome.

Tour of the Jewish area of Rome

We met Sarah promptly at 12 noon for a very informative tour of the old Jewish quarter. Sarah explained the significance of the buildings around the quarter. We visited the synagogue which is a magnificent building. Sarah explained certain objects in the museum. We spent a very enjoyable two plus hours walking & talking.
