Our tour guide, Alec, was SUPER knowledgeable not only about the Castel but about Roman history in general. Definitely had an elevated experience because of him alone. He had a whole book of different images to contextualize what we saw, and I feel like I learned more on that tour than any other experience in Rome combined. Can’t speak highly enough—thanks, Alec!
What an experience! Highly recommend! our GUIDE made the difference! never felt rushed! GREAT views!!!
This was an extraordinary and informative tour. Our guide was most knowledgeable and made historical connections that made it a most rewarding experience
We were shown no extra secrets under the castle. We paid four times the entrance fee to just have a private guide but the promise of seeing things not normally seen with a normal ticket did not materialise. Don’t buy this tour it’s a con.
Spectacular. The guide was excellent, he knew the subject and was clear and friendly! Our case was very particular because we had a setback and we arrived about 8 minutes late, we communicated with them and they helped us so that we could catch up with the group. We obviously recommend arriving on time, but this was an extraordinary element of help for us. We are grateful!!
This is a great location for a tour dedicated to history. As a historian myself, I knew that this castle has hundreds of years of death, violence, war, and intrigue attached to it. But you wouldn’t come away with that from this tour. Overall, this is a good basic introduction for those new to all things Roman. But the tour is oversold as a secrets tour.
Agnus was a tremendous guide. Very knowledgeable and presented the history of the Castel St. Angelo extremely well. Very enjoyable
Our tour guide was Virginia, a/k/a Jennie, she was amazing. She made walking through history so much fun. We learned so much and at the same time laughed and enjoyed typical Italian joy of living. The castle itself had so much more to offer and see than the tour guide books print about it. This was my 6th time in Rome and I had never been bc it was always underrated in guides. I would definitely recommend this on any 3 day visit. A perfect day is to start early in am 7:30 at Vatican and then end your touring day here. There is fabulous frescos, art work, so much history, and beautiful views from up top. This ranks high up as one of my favorite tours in Rome. Also, tour company was wonderful. Very friendly staff at the scene and surprisingly they arrive before the meeting time so you never have that are they going to show up feeling. If you do tours you know what I mean! Highly recommend this tour! Hope you get Virginia as your guide.
Great tour, very impressive overall, so much information and history. We had a great time in here. The tour was on time. Everything was well organized and easy to understand and follow.
