The Roman Forum, formerly a marshy area, began to take its current shape only from the end of the 7th century BC, with the reclamation of the valley, to become the center of public life for over a millennium. Over the centuries various monuments were built: first the buildings for political, religious and commercial activities, then during the 2nd century BC. the civil basilicas, where judicial activities took place. Already at the end of the Republican age, the ancient Roman Forum had become insufficient to carry out the function of the administrative and representation center of the city. The various dynasties of emperors added only prestigious monuments: the Temple of Vespasian and Titus and that of Antoninus Pius and Faustina dedicated to the memory of the deified emperors, and the monumental Arch of Septimius Severus, built at the western end of the square to celebrate the victories of the emperor.
The Colosseum is the largest amphitheater in the world, it was commissioned by the emperor Titus Flavius Vespasian who chose the area between the Palatine, Esquiline and Caelian hills to build it, previously occupied by the artificial lake of Nero's Domus Aurea. The building, intended for fights, games between gladiators (munera), simulations of hunting ferocious and exotic animals (venationes) and naumachie (naval combats). The Colosseum is made up of four overlapping architectural orders; the first three are made up of eighty arches framed by semi-columns, the fourth is divided into panels interspersed with windows. In the last order, masonry and wooden supports were inserted to support an immense tarpaulin (velarium) which served to shelter spectators from the sun and rain. 189 meters long, 156 meters wide, for a height of over 48 metres, the Colosseum extends over a surface area of 24,000 m2 and could accommodate around 50 thousand spectators.
Transfer by deluxe minivan to the Vatican Museums meeting point. Here you can visit the Triumphal Market, the most famous and ancient in Rome. Inside, you will have the opportunity to sample typical Roman dishes. Our assistant will advise you on the best solution for your needs.

We had 2 tour guides. First we had Muhamed who gave us a very informative guide through the Roman Forum and Colessium. Then we had lunch (Margerita Pizza) while we waited on our next part of the tour. We then were introduced to Maura who gave us an indepth guide throughout the Vatican Museum, to include, the Sistine Chapel. Would highly recommend this tour, just be prepared to walk!
lunch was supposed to be included but poorly organized to the point where we had to run off after the appetizer and some of us did not get to eat lunch because we were running late for the afternoon portion if the tour. The guide himself (Mohammed) was nice and knowledgeable.
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re pleased to hear that you appreciated the knowledge and professionalism of our guide, Mohammed we will be sure to pass along your kind words to him. Regarding the lunch experience, we understand your frustration. Unfortunately, due to unexpected traffic conditions and accumulated delays earlier in the day, the timing of the lunch stop was impacted, which led to a tighter schedule than originally planned. These external factors, while beyond our control, occasionally affect the ideal flow of the tour. We truly value your comments, as they help us continue improving the experience for all our guests, and we hope to welcome you again for a more seamless day of discovery. Warm regards,
The tour needs a better description. I was not aware it involved 5 hrs of walking in the heat with many steps and rocky terrain. It stated a 6 hr tour which was actually 8 hrs. It included a 2 1/2 lunch which was not listed. This is all too long for the summer months with intense heat. I was disappointed considering the high cost. Should have more shuttle transfers in the hot summer months. The tour guides were pleasant & knowledgeable.
Dear customer, thank you for sending us your opinion. we honestly do not understand your consideration, the tour is full day, the times can be flexible but above all the description is very clear, this is a walking tour that crosses ancient Rome, it is normal to walk on the old road. lunch is included and lasts 1.30 hours, the restaurant is qualified and the dishes are express.. maybe you are used to very fast and low quality canteens? the services included in the service are described clearly, the only transfer included is from the Colosseum to the restaurant. the cost reflects the cost of the services, if for you it is too expensive you should have purchased a large group service with poor quality.
Mohammed did a wonderful job. We saw all the highlights of Ancient Rome plus the Vatican City. Never felt rushed and no waiting in line. Mohammed very knowledgeable.
The tour of the Colosseum and Vatican was amazing! Our tour guide Mohamad was very knowledgeable and friendly. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Rome!
Absolutely phenomenal guide, Mr Mohammed. Clearly the best tour I’ve ever taken. We were looked after very well without being rushed. Saw things we never expected and learned so much. It exceeded expectations.
Our guide Mohammed is archaeologist, that's why he tried to share his scientific view and his historical knowledge to us. I would suggest you to have this experience when you visit Rome
Our guide Lucy was great full of information and history at both the Vatican and Coliseum. Lunch was delicious.
Dear customer , thanks so much for this beautiful words . your feedback is very important to us . happy that you enjoyed our best regards Patricia
