Strolling through Coimbra’s old town, visitors can explore narrow streets, charming squares, and historic buildings that reflect centuries of history. The university’s hilltop location offers stunning views over the Mondego River and the surrounding landscape. charming coastal city often called the “Venice of Portugal” thanks to its network of canals and colorful traditional boats known as moliceiros. Located near the Atlantic Ocean, it offers a unique blend of maritime heritage, Art Nouveau architecture, and relaxed seaside atmosphere, making it an ideal destination for a tourist visit. Strolling through the city, visitors can admire elegant buildings with ornate facades, many dating back to the early 20th century. A boat ride along the canals provides a different perspective of the city and is one of the most popular experiences. Nearby, the salt pans highlight Aveiro’s long-standing connection to salt production. No visit is complete without tasting the local sweet specialty, ovos moles, made from egg yolks and sugar. Just a short distance away, the beaches of Costa Nova attract visitors with their striped houses and golden sands. With its scenic waterways, cultural richness, and laid-back charm, Aveiro offers a delightful experience
Óbidos is a picturesque medieval village in central Portugal, known for its well-preserved walls and enchanting atmosphere. Walking through its narrow cobblestone streets feels like stepping back in time, with whitewashed houses decorated with bright flowers and traditional tiles. The village is surrounded by ancient fortified walls, which visitors can walk along for stunning views of the countryside. At its heart stands a historic castle, now converted into a charming hotel, adding to the romantic character of the town. Small local shops offer handicrafts and the famous cherry liqueur, ginjinha, often served in chocolate cups. You can reach Sítio by a traditional funicular, adding a touch of adventure to your visit. Nazaré is world-famous for its giant waves, especially at Praia do Norte, where surfers from around the globe come to challenge some of the biggest waves ever recorded. Miguel was a great guide & driver. He explained so many good details about Portuguese history & adapted well to a change in our itinerary when we initially had problems reserving tickets for Coimbra University and needed to schedule a later time than expected. Everything worked out in the end. Although we speak Portuguese too, his English is excellent. Speaks like a native American.

If you visit Portugal you will probably want to see both Lisbon and Porto. So how will you go from Lisbon to Porto? By plane? Train? Rent a car? We did better by booking a private van with sightseeing stops and a tour guide. Our driver and guide Miguel was very knowledgeable and informative and showed us places of historical significance and beauty, and a great lunch spot, that we would not likely have found on our own. Highly recommended! We left Lisbon 8:30am and arrived Porto 6pm.

We also did a tour to Sintra and palaces and seaside towns. We had a great lunch on a restaurant on the beach. Maguel drove us around for 2 days and our trip up to Porto with stop overs. He was very knowledgeable. I down a few tours with IGo Portugal from 2017 to now and have never been disappointed I would thoroughly recommend them
Excellent experience with our driver Miguel. He tailored the trip to our group’s interests and even suggested stops that were off the beaten track. Very professional, very knowledgeable!
Instead of taking a train or a direct car ride, we chose this private transfer with stops, and it was the best decision. Our guide, Sofia, was fantastic, sharing stories about Portugal’s history and culture.
We didn’t want to waste a whole day just driving from Lisbon to Porto, so this transfer with stops in Óbidos and Aveiro was the perfect solution. Our guide, João, gave us great insights into the history and culture of Portugal along the way. We loved walking through Óbidos' charming streets and tasting the famous ginjinha in a chocolate cup.
This private transfer was the perfect way to turn a travel day into a sightseeing experience. Our driver was professional and knowledgeable, making sure we were comfortable the entire time. Óbidos was like stepping into a medieval fairy tale, and in Aveiro, we took a short boat ride through the canals. We arrived in Porto relaxed and happy after a fantastic day.
All went perfectly. Very knowledgeable and accommodating driver, Miguel. Lisbon to Porto with a few great spots. Thanks for a comfortable ride.
Miguel was an amazing guide; extremely knowledgeable, patient, flexible, and fun. He commands a wealth of knowledge, equally comfortable discussing historical figures as he was discussing local cuisine. He was always prompt, always attentive and allowed us to tailor a portion of our tour. He had a stable of comfortable to luxurious vehicles that were well maintained and air conditioned adding to an amazing experience. We visited Lisboa, Sintra, Cascais, Nazare, Coimbra, Porto, and wine country along the Duro River. We could not have had a more fun and fulfilling adventure thanks to Miguel.
Miguel is fantastic. Educated, professional, warm and a pleasure to spend time with. We had the pleasure of private transport and tours for 5 days. We are not typically tour type travelers but this experience was customized to our preferences. We had the privilege of experiencing Portugal through a local’s lens. Miguel shared his personal mom and pop favorites with us and gave us tips for the time we had on our own. We plan to visit again and will definitely book with I GO Portugal again and request Miguel.
