Fantastic Guide

We had a fantastic tour with Valeria, an enthusiastic and knowledgable guide. It’s so evident Valeria had a deep love for the subject matter and this came across in the enthusiasm and knowledge during the tour. It was also extremely impressive how she managed to deliver this knowledge while walking backwards (so she could face us) through an extremely busy set of buildings. Bravo 🙌

English not welcomed

We did the skip the line tour of the Vatican, St Peters , Forum and Colosseum. While our tour guide was very knowledgeable she didn’t like the fact that I wasn’t bilingual, specifically that I was born in the US and didn’t speak Spanish (the others in my group spoke English and Spanish). After she recovered from the horror of being in the presence of a non-bilingual, she singled me out for a lecture about my ancestry, US history (revisionist to suit her narrative) and for the most part pretended like I didn’t exist for most of the tour. If you are from the US and don’t speak Spanish or Italian then I would recommend that you find a different tour. Even though this one advertises that English is an option you might get a guide that is less than enthusiastic at the prospect of having to speak English to you. You don’t want what might possibly be your first and last trip to Rome to be ruined by such an attitude.
