Praça do Comércio, still commonly referred to by its ancient designation of Terreiro do Paço, is a square in Downtown Lisbon located by the Tagus River, in the area that was the site of the palace of the kings of Portugal for about two centuries and which today is partly occupied by some government departments. It is one of the largest squares in Europe, with about 36 000 m² (180m x 200m). [1] The square is bordered by 79 arches. It is considered a historical symbol of political power and manifestation of capitality in Portugal. This symbology is generally associated with state centralism. In 1511, King Manuel I transferred his residence from The Castle of St. George to this place by the river. The Paço da Ribeira, as well as its library of 70 000 volumes, were destroyed by the earthquake of 1755. In the reconstruction, coordinated by Eugénio dos Santos, the square became the fundamental element of the plan of the Marquis of Pombal.

Joe was an excellent driver. Provided lot of info about the different areas of Lisboa and gave us time to stop and explore!
Thanks for your feedback! Glad to hear Joe made the trip enjoyable and informative while giving you time to explore.
It’s a worthwhile activity to see various parts of the city and various sights in a short amount of time. Would have rated it higher if the driver spoke better English and more importantly, had a microphone so we could hear him over the traffic noise
Thank you for your honest feedback! We’re glad you found the tour worthwhile. We typically provide audio equipment and will check internally to understand why it wasn’t used properly during your tour. Your input helps us improve!

We only had an afternoon in Lisbon so this was a very efficient way to see the highlights. Abdul shared the history of the city and the places we visited. He stopped and allowed us to get out and walk around at different places. If you’re looking for a quick way to see Lisbon, this is it!
This restaurant is amazing! The food is delicious and authentic. The service was impeccable. Staff was ubey friendly and gracious. Gave us great food recommendations. Prices are fantastic. There is a wight and constant line. Opens at 7 pm. Go there and enjoy dinner!! Highly recommend it!!
All around great trip. We were tired so didn’t last long but saw some beautiful scenes in the old part of the city.
The driver was nice, but very hard to understand. We were hoping for someone who spoke better English.
While it was certainly nice to get driven around to see more of the city, I wish the Tuktuk driver gave us more information on the places we visited. Instead, what we got was a short summary of a particular location and then we were left to explore a place on our own without additional information on the history. Part of the fun of doing these guided tours is getting fun facts about the landmarks. We did not get that.
Fantastic experience with Rana , a truly lovely man with lots of enthusiasm and a great smile - we had a great morning exploring Lisbon.
Had a great time with our guide. Was in a genuine tuk tuk no replica's. Genuine guy. Very knowledgeable. Took us all over. 2 hrs is enough to see most things.
