Itinerary
We’ll start our journey in this tranquil square with a stunning view of the Temple of Hadrian, its columns serving as a testament to the grandeur of ancient Roman architecture.
Marvel at this Baroque beauty, famous for its unique ceiling and ornate interior. Here you’ll learn about the grandeur of 17th-century religious art and the meaning behind it.
Observe this peaceful square, home to the impressive Basilica di Santa Maria Sopra Minerva. Inside you’ll find exquisite artworks such as Michaelangelo’s “Christ the Redeemer” and the tomb of Saint Catherine of Siena.
When you think of Rome one of the first things that comes to mind is the Pantheon’s iconic dome and impressive portico, a marvel of ancient Roman architecture, and the world’s best preserved Roman building.
Stroll through the elegant Piazza Navona. Once an ancient Roman stadium, this beautiful square features Baroque fountains and the magnificent Church of Sant’Agnese in Agone, designed by Borromini and Bernini.
Walk down the charming Via dei Coronari, a narrow cobblestone street with views of Renaissance-era buildings. Learn about the pilgrims who gathered here to head to Saint Peter’s Basilica and the less-than-holy establishments that once lined these streets.
Cross the Ponte Sant'Angelo, a beautiful bridge adorned with statues of angels, offering wonderful views of the Tiber River and Castel Sant’Angelo. Once serving as the entrance to Emperor Hadrian’s mausoleum, it later became the main route for pilgrims travelling to St. Peter’s Basilica.
Admire the imposing Castel Sant'Angelo, once a fortress, papal residence, and even a prison it’s now a museum, with a majestic cylindrical structure and scenic views over Rome.
Immerse yourself in the world of the pilgrims as you take in the view of Piazza Pia, which was a key meeting point for visitors heading toward Saint Peter’s Basilica, and a symbol that the journey to spiritual awakening was almost complete.
Stand in awe at Saint Peter's Square, with its grand colonnades designed by Bernini, leading up to the majestic façade of St. Peter’s Basilica, the heart of Catholicism built right over the tomb of Saint Peter himself. When the tour is over you can decide to explore it at your own leisure.
