Itinerary

30 min

We will start our tour at your hotel and go early to the most famous fountain in the world, the Trevi Fountain, while there are not a huge number of people there. Trevi is a hidden treasure, created in the 18th century and still powered by an ancient Roman aqueduct that has been running for 2,000 years. Prepare some coins to throw into the fountain and be sure to return to Rome, as the Roman tradition says. If you wish, next to the fountain you can try the most delicious Roman ice cream.

30 min

Then we will go to the Spanish Steps, one of the most attractive places in Rome. You'll enjoy a view of the Church of the Holy Trinity at the top of the stairs and the Barcaccia Fountain at the foot of the stairs, and learn about the fascinating history of the Spanish Steps. We will also visit with you the oldest coffee house in Rome, open since 1760!

30 min

You can enjoy one of the greatest creations of ancient architecture. The Pantheon was created by the Emperor Hadrian, a man for whom architecture was his main passion in life. The Pantheon united Roman religion under one huge dome, which to this day is the largest in the world. Because of the metal detectors set up in Covid period, there can be a long line to the Pantheon, so perhaps we will enjoy its view from the outside.

30 min

It is impossible to imagine visiting Rome without Piazza Navona. It was created on the site of an ancient Roman stadium and today is one of the most striking examples of Roman Baroque. In the center of the square is the second most beautiful Roman fountain created by Lorenzo Bernini, the "Fountain of the Four Rivers", depicting the symbols of the largest rivers of the four continents: Nile, Ganges, Danube and Rio della Plata.

Pass by

Built only 100 years ago, the Altar of the Fatherland in Piazza Venezia is today one of Rome's main symbols, striking for its size and decoration. Here is the tomb of the unknown soldier, the eternal flame, the permanent guard and the museum dedicated to the unification of Italy.

30 min

You will see the largest arena of the ancient period, designed for chariot races, accommodating 250,000 spectators, located on the slopes of the two Roman hills - Palantine and Aventine, as well as the imperial palace on Palatine Hill, from which the emperor himself watched the race. The chariot races had not only the function of entertainment, but also had an important aspect of socialization and propaganda of power. This is why the horse-racing arenas were much larger than the amphitheaters.

30 min

It is the favorite place of all Romans and many visitors to the city, where everyone always wants to return. From the Orange Garden you will see the most beautiful panorama of the city, a beautiful perspective view of the dome of St. Peter's Cathedral, framed on both sides by Roman pines. Many Romans come exactly to this place to meet the sunset, take their loved ones on dates, hold wedding photo sessions.

30 min

The English word for "capital" comes from the name of Rome's most important historical hill, the Capitoline Hill, which tells us of the exceptional importance of this place in the ancient period. Here was the seat of administration of the city and the empire, the main temple of Jupiter, and today there is the Roman City Hall, the oldest museum in the world, as well as the symbol of the city - the Capitoline Wolf, about whose history you will learn. The Capitoline Hill offers the most beautiful view of the center of ancient Rome - the Roman Forum.

90 min

Italian cuisine is perhaps the richest and most varied in the world. A special place in it belongs to Roman cuisine, rich in traditional historical recipes. Roman cuisine is delicious pasta, tiramisu, artichokes, oxtail and much more. Lunch will be part of our program and we will go to the traditional folk district of Rome, located on the right bank, Trastevere. We will have lunch in a traditional family restaurant, run by the same family for 4 generations.

30 min

Santa Maria Maggiore is the treasury of Rome, one of the four most important churches in the city and the largest cathedral in the world dedicated to the Virgin Mary. You will see the ceiling entirely covered in gold, the beautiful Baroque decor, the precious mosaics of the floor and the altar.

30 min

My main goal is to show you Rome from different angles, so we will go on this day also in the Roman Art Nouveau area, created in the early 20th century, named after the creator of this area - Coppede. In this place you find yourself in a fairy tale, in the midst of stunning castles completely different from each other, but created by the imagination of one man - Luigi Coppede.

30 min

We will visit the largest baths in ancient Rome, the Thermae of Diocletian, built in the 3rd century AD, with a capacity of 15,000 visitors. After the fall of the Empire, the baths were well preserved and in the 16th century Michelangelo created one of the largest churches inside the baths.

30 min

After Pope Paul V restored the ruined ancient Roman aqueduct he wanted to build a large fountain in his honor, which for 100 years was the largest fountain in Rome. We will go to the Janiculum hill and see not only this fountain, but also one of the most beautiful Roman views.

30 min

In ancient Rome this place was the northern entrance to the city, and today it is one of the most beautiful squares in Rome. We will definitely visit the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Popolo, where you can see two original paintings by Caravaggio and where Martin Luther once lived, it was here, in this church, that Protestantism was born.

We had a great experience...

We had a great experience today with Alex. We had our family of 9 including one of group using a walker. He customized our itinerary based on our needs and was very knowledgeable walking us thru the sites. It was a wonderful experience and I highly recommend it to anyone. He also picked us up and dropped us off at our accommodations and was right on time.

A fantastic way to see Rome in a day. Comfortable and suitable for older persons as well

We had an excellent time and the tour was the perfect way to see Rome in a day. Alex our guide was very knowledgeable and shared information with us in an understandable way which helped us appreciate what we were seeing. He was enthusiastic and adapted the schedule to avoid crowds and ensure we fitted everything in. The lunch suggestion was excellent and the Tiramisu was not to be missed. The tour car was well presented and maintained. It was hot during our visit so we appreciated the water and air conditioning.

Exceptional Tour Guide

We had an exceptional time on this tour. The places we visted we're beautiful but it was our tour guide Alex is that really made the entire experience one to remember. He was not only beyond knowledgable about the history of Rome but he was very thoughtful in his delievery of information to our 3 children (aged 7, 9 and 11) to help them best understand and keep them engaged. We had a lovely time and highly recommend this private tour with Alex.

Wonderful tour through Rome!

Alex is one of the best tour guides we had our whole trip! He's very personable and also very knowledgeable of the area! He was beyond accommodating for us and helped us have a very memorable day in Rome! We enjoyed seeing sites that we never would have been able to see without going on the tour with him. It was also very nice having a private car with AC to jump in after seeing a site. The only thing we would suggest is if you want to see the Vatican and the Coliseum, you need to get tickets on your own before. They're not included and they sell it months in advance. 100% recommend booking a tour with Alex!

Average

Not too much to tell, average service nothing special for this high price. I think there are many better opportunities to do under lower prices

Operator response

Dear Gonzalo, On June 27, you booked a full day tour in Rome by car for 7 people for the next day, June 28. June in Rome and in all of Italy is the highest tourist season. Personally, my June is fully booked already in the middle of May because usually travelers plan their tour in advance, especially travelers from USA and Australia. We have 5 guides in our team driving a minivan and all of them were busy the next day, which makes sense in June. So I was faced with a choice: cancel the tour or send a guide from another company of our colleagues with you. Can I call your guide, Gazvan, the best choice in Rome? Probably not. But I can say with certainty that it was the best choice when booking a tour one day in advance during the highest season, not only in our company, but on the entire Viator. I chose to send this guide with you rather than cancel the tour, knowing that you would not find a better option, knowing that you are with a small child and elderly parents. In this situation you would not have found not only a guide but even a decent car for the day. I am very upset with this kind of review as we changed all the plans for the next day of guide Gazvan to go with you, the guide waited an hour longer for you in the morning as you were late for breakfast, helped organize your entrance to the Vatican museums even though it was not part of the tour you booked. All I can do apart from regret is to suggest that next time you are in Rome, write to me in advance, I will give you a big discount and then you will understand the difference between booking a tour the day before and booking a month in advance. I wish you great trips and all the best. Alexander.

Full day exceptional experience of Rome

Alex was a wonderful guide. He took us everywhere. We could spend as much time as we wanted at every stop. Alex also brought us to the most amazing restaurant for our lunch. His knowledge was such a treat. After 8 full hours, we were exhausted. Would definitely recommend and would do this tour again.

Giovanni The best tour guide

Giovanni was the best you cann’t go wrong with him. Very knowledgeable polite assist you in anyway possible he helped us a lot as we had my father in a wheelchair. He always tried to get as close as possible to the activity so we wouldn’t have to push the wheelchair from a further distance when I return, I most definitely will be requesting him
