The food was good and the fado singers were excellent! The portions were a little small but I was well fed and well served. My only complaint is the venue was very difficult to find and the venue has no AC so dress light. I also recommend leaving yourself time in the morning after as the show runs late into the night and is well worth staying for.
The food was really delicious! I thought it was a prefixed menu, but we had the opportunity to chose our main entree and dessert. My family and I thoroughly enjoyed everything we had! The waiters were super friendly and never let our glasses run dry! We had so much wine, beer and water!!! The singers were outstanding! I am a musician and singer. Trust me: these performers were great! I can’t recommend this experience any higher! You will love it!
We hadn't finished the meal yet and they were already setting the bill for us to send away! I do not recommend.
We booked the evening before, although everything should have been busy, so we should have thought about it already. The reception on site was OK and we were politely referred to our table. The staff, however, seemed confused and it did not seem like there was much control in connection with the evening, which we, as a couple had paid 160 EUR for. It was difficult to see who among the staff had the main responsibility for the event. With a confused hustle, we were given a menu card from which we had to order quickly. The food came quite accidentally into a stressed environment. Some of the staff went around confused while others had time to check their cell phone. The room was very hot, so water needed to be added. The water from the caraffle was lush and tasted clearly chlorine. No wonder the staff drank bottled water. The business was standard, bread and olives and the main dish as well. Cold soft potato boats while the meat was wet and good! - but in a strange gum-like sauce. Along the way there came a couple of Fado elements, which were a bit unengaged. We had paid 20 EUR extra for a selection of Portuguese wines to choose from. The result was a Moscato for start and a glass of port wine, but a selection of different wines was not possible - I asked three different waiters. White wine came from karafe or when we insisted from a bottle, but the red wine was only in one version - of questionable quality from karafe . I finally got a reply from the waiter that I could get a beer instead. The dessert set a point on a gastronomic low. Both we and the guests at the neighboring table were pointless about both the visual and taste quality - many did not eat it at all. The final part of the Fado show, where the artist was changed, raised the quality and engagement to the level we expected. The show stopped approximately 30 minutes early without any explanation or the slightest hostess from the organizer. Our recommendation is: Stay away! It's not worth the money at all. These are beautiful and atmospheric rooms, which were also acoustically challenging, as it was very difficult to communicate with each other. A highlight was the good company with the other guests, who were in the same situation with poor food and service and with a Fado without much commitment and unprofessional service.
I will be in Lisbon July 29th. While trying to book one person for the Mesa de Frades dinner show on July 29th I accidentally booked 2 adults for June 28 dinner show. I immediately contacted Viator customer service that this was an error and I wasn’t even in Spain until end of July. No assistance from customer service. I also messaged the local tour operator and did not receive a response. Please refund my money (~150€). Thank you.
Surprisingly good food accompanied by wonderful music. The fish was excellent. The view from the upper level was prime.
This was a great experience! The fado show was spectacular, and the food and service were exceptional!
Must go evening. !! Suggestion: go to the Fado Museum 1st, have a wine in the Alfama area and then go to the 9:30 dinner
Tourist trap. This place is a scam stay away,
It is important to know you are in a small space and it is very important to be quiet while the artists are performing. We were 6 people, 4 adults and 2 children ages 6 and 3. The children were amazingly quiet the entire performance however some adults did get shushed. There were also good options for dinner and the food was very good.
