Discover the historic city of Sintra, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, on a day trip from Lisbon. .Sintra is a town that is around 35 km from Lisbon. It is a magical place with castles and palaces and a stunning historic town center. It has crazy views and also special beaches. UNESCO declared the cultural landscape of Sintra a World Heritage Site in 1995.
Quinta da Regaleira is a place to feel. It is not enough to tell you about its history, its landscape and its mysteries. It is necessary to get to know it, to contemplate the scenography of the gardens and buildings, to admire the Palace, a true philosopher's mansion inspired by alchemy, to walk through the exotic park and to feel its spirituality.The Regaleira Palace is the main building and the most common name of Quinta da Regaleira. It is also known as the Monteiro dos Milhões Palace, a name associated with the nickname of its former owner, António Augusto Carvalho Monteiro.
A privileged vantage point looking out over the Atlantic coastline, the floodplain and the Sintra Hills, the millennium-old Moorish Castle, founded under Islamic rule, occupied a then strategic position for defending both the surrounding territory and the maritime access routes to the city of Lisbon. The artefacts found on this site identify how, in between the walls and their adjoining areas, there lived a population in an area now named the Islamic Quarter
The history of this magical site reaches back to the 12th century, a point in time when there was a chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Pena here. On this same location, King Manuel I ordered the construction of a Monastery, the Royal Monastery of Our Lady of Pena, subsequently handed over to the Hieronymite Order.

Neel was exceptional. I need to repeat that exceptional. He went so completely beyond and is the best guide we have ever had, from helping with moody teens, taking amazing photos and videos to making sure we seen and experienced everything Sintra had to offer. He is so knowledgeable, friendly and engaging. Not even only with my family, you see how he interacts with the people around him. From saying hi to babies, talking to the staff at the locations and store owners. He is embedded, invested and proud of his country. It shows in his attitude, his passion to pass on this history and a how hard he works. We will definitely book him again and recommend him to our friends and colleagues that are coming in the fall to Portugal. You will not be disappointed.

This was a great tour. Our guide Hossain was an excellent host. He was very knowledgeable and provided a lot of information along the tour. Doing the tour through Viator had its perks as we were able to advance to the front of the line at Pena Palace, saving a lot of time. Hossain was also very flexible, and allowed us to change the itinerary since it was a private tour. Great tour, great day. Thanks Hossain.
We were scheduled to be picked up at our hotel, the driver never showed up. When we contacted the agency they said they had been to the hotel, insisted that we were being untruthful. Said they had call/texted 5 times, which was incorrect. Thank goodness we were able to contact another tour guide and get on their schedule, otherwise we would have had a wasted day!
We had an amazing time on this tour with our tour guide, Neel, who told us so many information about the history of the area. The moorish castle was very cool and Pena palace was pretty while the Regilera tunnels were so interesting. I very much recommend this tour and Neel is an amazing tour guide!

We had a phenomenal day with Mr. fantastic! This was one of the only tours that we could find that would do the Moorish Castle, Pena Palace, AND Quinta Regaleira. We really appreciated the knowledgeable guide and very smooth logistics of the entire day. We got to see all the sights we wanted in Sintra. The great views and ruins of the Moorish Castle were spectacular. Then, we got to go to the Pena Palace, which our guide was able to deftly navigate the lines, and held our place while we ate at the cafe. We also had a good lunch with a helpful recommendation from Mr. Fantastic. Overall an amazing experience which we would not have been able to do in one day otherwise. Highly recommend!!

The day is full so you need a guide who understand the crowds and what to do when and where. Between Pena Palace, Santa, Moorish Castle, all was completed and avoided big crowds. NAYEM was Awesome!!!
