Abysmal experience

We were originally booked onto a tour at 11 on Friday, but i was contacted by the tour operator at 9am to ask if we could move to the 10am tour. This was not possible, so we agreed to move to the 3.30pm tour later that day instead (despite the heat). When we arrived for the 3.30 tour, we were the only people attending. So, given the heat and the economics of the situation with it being a tip-based tour, we agreed to defer until the 10am tour on the Saturday morning. (Fernanda - the tour guide who would have taken us - was incredibly helpful and walked with us to the metro, shared recommendations etc). We then turned up for the saturday morning 10am tour - as rearranged - but our guide (Nessim?) unfortunately didn’t…. So about 10 people were left high and dry. Fernanda - who deserves a medal - was on hand and managed the different customers with aplomb. We were offered a change onto the 11am tour, but had other plans at 12.30 so that wouldn't have worked - and by this point we had lost interest and faith in the whole idea. So, all in all, the experience has been abysmal. We have been accommodating and flexible twice, but the non-appearance of the tour guide on Saturday morning was the final straw.

Asked to tip a minimum of 5 euros per person

Right at the beginning, our guide told to pay her if we left early. When asked why we had to pay again when we had already paid when booking with TripAdvisor or Viator, we were told that we should pay an additional 5 euros per person since that was what the guide had to pay for the booking. I would rather this be included in the booking price than additional money being asked for unexpectedly rather than as a tip. I say this as someone who usually tips very generously but feel it should reflect how good the guide is.

100% recommended.

It was a 10/10 tour, Claudia was our tour guide and she is just the best. Takes you to the most important parts of Lisbon, explains the history, gives you cool facts about Portugal and it's food and language, recommends restaurants and food and gives you a break to get some water and take photos. We had the best time. Obrigada or Gracias ;)

A great introduction to Lisbon

This 2.5 hour tour of the Lisbon city centre was excellent and I recommend for everyone, but particularly for people at the start of their visit to the city. Our guide Cecilia was excellent - she gave an interesting and passionate history of the city and Portugal. The sites we visited were were good too. We started in the Restorers monument and ended in commerce square.
