Description

You are in Rome and would love to visit Vatican City but are not sure the children would enjoy it.  Think again!! This is a great 2,5hour, fully interactive tour of the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel and Saint Peter’s Basilica that will keep the whole family fully engaged.  You won’t miss anything.  The wonderful collections in the Galleries of Tapestries and Maps, Raphael’s Rooms and of course the Sistine Chapel.  It has been designed to be a fun, learning experience for the kids but we know the whole family will be captivated. Because of the growing popularity of the current pope Francis and his intense activity in organising mass events in the Vatican, some areas might get closed last minute without previous notice. The Sistine chapel might not be accessible. In case of such events our tour guide will provide you with a valuable alternative focusing the tour inside the Vatican museums.

Throughout the visit there will be lots of games to play to keep the children occupied and there are prizes to be won; all the time the children will be learning about the wonderful artworks in a fun and exciting way. We know the kids will be amazed by the Greek and Roman statues and the sarcophagi of the Empresses Helena and Constantina, the mother and daughter of Constantine the Great. The tour then arrives a perhaps one of the most well-known chapels in the world. The Sistine Chapel is where the elections for the new Pope takes place and is decorated with Michelangelo’s wonderful frescoes depicting The Last Judgment. No talking is allowed inside, so before you enter your guide will tell you a little about the creation of Adam and other biblical stories that are to be seen represented in the frescos.

100% Fantastic

Francesco, our tour guide, was amazing! He had our 7 &10yr old captivated for a 2.5hr tour, it actually went so fast we didn't realize it was 2.5hours. Lots of great facts and what to look for in the art work and sculptures. It was our best tour of the trip and honestly best tour I've ever taken. Overall, worth every penny!

Amazing tour guide but organizer could use some work

Our guide was very good at keeping the kids engaged throughout the tour even when they were beggining to tire. The only reason we did not give it a 4 star was the tour operators schedule our visit for 9 am but did not have tickets to enter Vatican or a guide until 10 am. This made for a longer morning then desired. We specifically selected earliest time slot to have less crowd and finish quickly. The children were exhausted by the end.

Amazing time with Claudia!

Claudia was absolutely fantastic! She kept our boys (11, 7) engaged and made the tour fun and interesting for them, while still giving the adults lots of great history and information. My mother has some breathing issues and would need breaks after staircases; Claudia would make sure she had a chair for her to catch her breath. Would do another tour with her in a heartbeat!

Maria is amazing!

Maria is absolutely fantastic. We had her 2 days in a row and she kept our 5 year old son engaged and attentive. I wish I could take her all over Italy on our tours!

Excellent Tour with Amazing Guide!

Having been to Vatican City before, I knew in general what we were going to see, and once again, it did not disappoint. So many times, the guide makes or breaks the tour. Francesco was PHENOMENAL. He turned the tour of the museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica and Square into an odyssey for both our kids (ages 10 & 7). He intrigued them with often overlooked details of the great masterpieces they were viewing, and in so doing taught them lots of art history along the way without them feeling "taught" in any way. My husband and I were also quite entertained & educated. Francesco was intriguing, personable, and made the art come alive for all 4 of us - the perfect combination to both educate and have fun while doing so. We would highly recommend both the tour and our guide Francesco.
