This tour was the absolute highlight of our visit to Rome and we'd thoroughly recommend it, particularly to families. We have two young daughters (six and ten) and our guide Bruno was expert at engaging with them and telling the Colosseum story in a fun, interactive way. Bruno was energetic, friendly, extremely knowledgeable and interacted both with the kids and the adults with ease. His English is excellent (our group was all English speaking) and his sense of humour infectious! He even spent his own time after the tour making restaurant recommendations and sending links to interested group members. In terms of duration the tour is just the right length, any more and the kids would have lost interest I think. Excellent unforgettable experience...thank you!
Excellent tour for our kids. The tour started promptly. We were with 2 other families with similar age kids. He can certainly hold an audience. The kids were captivated! The pace is just nice for a group of 8-13 yo. No opportunity to wander around and really take time to appreciate the many angles and views of the Colosseum, which is expected with a group tour anyway. Lucky this was our 3rd Colosseum and forum visit so I wasn't too gutted. But for first timers and keen photographers, I'd suggest buy another ticket and enter again because this one keeps moving. Also, bring snacks and drinks for the kids. The walking makes them hungry. Marco also gave a little present to all the kids at thee end, which was a nice touch. Our daughter thinks he was the best part of our Rome visit, and the best guide she's ever had. Highly recommended.
We spent almost six hours with Donato over the span of two days. We did private tours of the Colosseum and Forum with him one day and the Vatican Museum, Sistine Chapel, and Saint Peter’s Basilica the next. Donato was an amazing guide for our two boys (ages 11 & 7), and us adults. He had the utmost patience and ability to answer all sorts of off-the-wall questions from the kids and keep the parents interested, as well. He is obviously an expert in his field of archeology and thus is well-able to explain the historic, artistic, religious, cultural significance of every piece of art, artifact, or inscription we encountered. He earned our highest recommendation! A more resounding endorsement is from my youngest son who can’t wait to come back to Rome with his own kids and introduce them to Donato. Mille grazie, Donato!
