The Nuruosmaniye Mosque (Turkish: Nuruosmaniye Camii) is an 18th-century Ottoman mosque located in the Çemberlitaş neighbourhood of Fatih district in Istanbul, Turkey, which was inscribed in the Tentative list of World Heritage Sites in Turkey in 2016. Designed by a Greek non-Muslim architect named Simeon Kalfa , the Nuruosmaniye mosque was the first monumental Ottoman building to exemplify the new Ottoman baroque style, which introduced baroque and neoclassical elements from Europe. The mosque's ornamentation and its curved courtyard display its baroque influences. The dome of the mosque is one of the largest in Istanbul. The mosque is part of a larger religious complex, or külliye, acting as a centre of culture, religion, and education for the neighborhood.

Beautiful Istanbul

We had an absolutely fantastic time with Ayse. She was incredibly knowledgeable and shared many interesting facts as we drove through Istanbul. She made it amazing by taking us to a Mosque that was near the Grand Bazaar so we could experience both, a Turkish Bath (Hurrem Sultan Hamami) for which was I was a bit nervous. Ayse made me feel comfortable about going, I’m so grateful she did! She even took us to a restaurant rooftop to feed birds! So many wonderful memories!! We look forward to going back to beautiful Istanbul, hopefully we will be able to get Ayse as our guide again!

Esra gave us an exceptional tour of Istanbul’s highlights

Esra was a fantastic guide and made sure we saw the major sites of Istanbul. She has a wonderful knowledge of every attraction and the city in general. She’s young, full of energy and really related well to my 18 year old son and 17 year old daughter. There wasn’t a question she couldn’t answer and she was beyond kind, and great company. Highly recommend!

The best way to visit Istanbul - ask for Savas as your guide!

Our tour with Savas was truly the highlight of our visit to Istanbul. He guided us through the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the Hippodrome, the grounds of the Topkapi Palace, and the Grand Bazaar, bringing each location to life with fascinating stories, historical context, and incredible depth of knowledge about both the landmarks and the city itself. His English is flawless, making every explanation easy to understand, and his friendly, approachable personality, made us feel like we were exploring the city with a local friend. One thing that really sets Savas apart was how he used his iPad throughout the tour to show historical photos, maps, and illustrations, helping us visualize what these incredible sites looked like centuries ago. It added a whole new dimension to the experience and made history even more meaningful. He also went above and beyond by recommending places for us to visit on our own the following day and giving us valuable tips that helped us make the most of the rest of our stay. To top it off, Savas introduced us to a fantastic local ice cream shop that we never would’ve found on our own. A delicious treat and perfect way to take a break during the amazing busy tour day. If you are looking for a guide, who is knowledgeable, engaging, personable, and genuinely passionate about his city ask for Savas. He made our visit to Istanbul unforgettable, and we couldn’t recommend him more highly!

Throughout the day, he also introduced us to some fabulous local places to eat, which made the experience even more authentic and memorable.
