SULTANAHMET IMPERIAL MOSQUE Across from St. Sophia built in the 16th century by the architect Mehmet, is known as the BLUE MOSQUE because of its magnificent interior decoration of blue Iznik tiles.
In this labyrinth of streets and passages are more than 4,000 shops with each trade having its own area: the goldsmiths street, the carpet sellers, Turkish arts and crafts, such as handpainted ceramic plates, hand-honed copperware, brassware and trays, water ewers, onyx-ware, and meerschaum pipes.
This ancient basilica, built by Constantine the Great in the 4th century and reconstructed by Justinian in the 6th century, is one of the architectural marvels of all time.
Topkapi Palace The great palace of the Ottoman sultans from the 15th to the 19th centuries housing an exquisite collection of crystal, silver, and Chinese porcelain, robes worn by the sultans and their families. The famous jewels of the Imperial Treasury, miniatures, the Holy Mantle; enshrining relics of the Prophet Mohammed.

Try and avoid Friday and Saturday - the crowds were immense. Our guide was excellent with a superb knowledge of ancient history as he explained the significance of each mosque and monument.

Great day experiencing some of the main sites in Istanbul . Our guide Burak was very knowledgeable and welcoming. showed us all the best photo spots and accommodated our pace. He also facilitated a skip the line ticket option on arrival. The sites are a must see, words would be an understatement. Burak is also an expert of the grand bazar. This tour was a great introduction to Istanbul and Sultanahmet. Our tour guide Ozgen was knowledgeable great personality and kind. Even though we were there on a public holiday with lots of people we never felt rushed and could see everything we wanted to. Ozgen even took us to her favourite restaurant for lunch and we returned there the next day. I thoroughly recommend this tour early in your visit to Istanbul as you come away with a fount of knowledge about Turkey and its history. Thank Ozgen for making our stay in Istanbul a standout.
