Itinerary

you take a Bosphorus tour, you’ll pass many lavish and intriguing buildings, but the most opulent of them all, surely has to be the 600m long Dolmabahçe Sarayı (Dolmabahce Palace). It took 13 years to build and was completed in 1856, and served as the administrative center of the Ottoman Empire until 1922. The palace was commissioned by Sultan Abdülmecid (who decided there should be a more European palace than Topkapi) and designed by Armenian architect Karabet Balian and his son Nikoğos Balian. (read Balyan family on wikipedia). It is an ostentatious blend architectural styles including Baroque, Rococo, Neoclassical and modern Ottoman, dripping in luxury

Pass by

The mosque which decorates many postcards of the city is right on the Bosphorous, in Ortaköy. It is officially called Büyük Mecidiye Camii (Grand Imperial Mosque). It was ordered to be built by Sultan Abdülmecid on the grounds of an earlier mosque. The mosque was built between 1854-1856, in neo-Baroque style. Nikoğos Balyan was the architect of the mosque, who was also the architect of the Dolmabahçe Palace. Within the mosque, there are several examples of Islamic calligraphy executed by Sultan Abdülmecid himself.

The Bosphorus Bridge is one of two bridges that spans the Bosphorus Strait, connecting the European and Asian sides of Istanbul. It stretches from Ortakoy on the European side to Beylerbeyi on the Asian side and is sometimes referred to as the First Bosphorus Bridge. At 1560 meters long, the Bosphorus Bridge was the fourth longest suspension bridge in the world when it opened in 1973 and was the first bridge to connect Europe and Asia since a bridge spanning the Dardanelles in 480 B.C. Today, it is the 21st longest suspension bridge in the world. In 2007, an LED lighting system was installed to illuminate the bridge at night and the computerized system is now used to create a colorful light show every evening. While the bridge is typically closed to pedestrians, it opens each October for the Istanbul Eurasia Marathon – the only marathon that crosses from one continent to another.

Pass by

Rumelihisarı or Boğazkesen Castle is a medieval fortress located in Istanbul, on a series of hills on the European banks of the Bosphorus. The fortress also lends its name to the immediate neighborhood around it in the city's Sarıyer district.

Pass by

Fatih Sultan Mehmet Bridge, also known as the Second Bosphorus Bridge, spanning the Bosphorus strait. It is named after the 15th century Ottoman Sultan Mehmed the Conqueror, who conquered Istanbul in 1453 and ended the Byzantine Empire. The bridge was designed by Freeman Fox & Partners, who had previously also designed the Bosphorus Bridge. An international consortium of three Japanese companies, one Italian and one Turkish company carried out the construction works. The bridge was completed on July 3, 1988 and opened by Prime Minister Turgut Özal who drove his official car by himself as the first to pass. The cost of the bridge amounted to USD 130 million.

Pass by

Beylerbeyi meaning "Lord of Lords", is located in the Beylerbeyi neighbourhood of Üsküdar district in Istanbul, at the Asian side of the Bosphorus. An Imperial Ottoman summer residence built in the 1860s, it is now situated immediately north of the 1973 Bosphorus Bridge.

Pass by

The Maiden's Tower, also known as Leander's Tower since the medieval Byzantine period, is a tower lying on a small islet located at the southern entrance of the Bosphorus strait 200 m from the coast of Üsküdar in Istanbul.

Disappointed

I booked a tour that was advertised as “all-inclusive,” but it was far from it. The food was poor and nowhere near what was promised, and the entertainment was disappointing and low quality. I had high expectations, but the experience was disappointing from start to finish. I do not recommend this tour at all.

Operator response

Hello, First of all, thank you for your feedback. All details about our tour — including the included services, meal options, and alcohol policy — are clearly and transparently stated on our website and in the information provided. We also discussed the drink policy with you on WhatsApp, where we explained that the alcohol-included package is limited to two alcoholic drinks, while soft drinks are unlimited. Our meals consist of three different options, and guests are free to choose whichever they prefer. Additionally, hotel pick-up and drop-off services are included in the tour package. Our show is above standard quality and highly appreciated by the majority of our guests. You mentioned that you were far from the stage; I truly wish you had informed me beforehand, as I would have done my best to assist you with this. However, please note that front-row seating is limited, and it is unfortunately not possible to place all guests in the very front area due to the restricted stage layout. 99% of our guests enjoy and are satisfied with our tour. Of course, we respect every opinion; we just wish your experience had been more positive. Nevertheless, your feedback is valuable to us. Thank you for your understanding, and we wish you a pleasant day ahead.

The dances and the show were great

The dinner cruise on the Bosphorus was absolutely unforgettable. The view was stunning the food was delicious, and the dance performances were simply mesmerizing. The crew was very attentive, and everything felt so well-organized. This was one of the best experiences I’ve had in Istanbul

All perfect. But the starters should be more international. Service and attention from the waiters was excellent

Not very good value for money!

The window seats allow you to enjoy the view of the river and the isle seats allow you to have a clear view of the entertainment, but if you are seated in the middle of the table then you are at a big disadvantage as you don’t have a clear view of the river or the entertainment. The entertainment itself was ok. The food was very disappointing, you are not given a menu, you are just asked if you want ‘meat or fish’. The fish option arrived first but it took between 30 - 45 mins for the meat to arrive, so if you chose fish and your partner chose meat, you could not enjoy your meal together. Then to make things worse, the portion size was clearly insufficient for a fully grown adult. This is not just my opinion many people on the boat were commenting on how disappointed they were with the main course. I wish I had taken a photos to illustrate my point. I guess the boat operator’s strategy was to fill everyone up with bread and dips. In regards to drinks, we were given an option of 1 glass of Coke, Fanta or Sprite and then shortly after we were given a small bottle of water. Considering we were on the boat for nearly 4 hours this was also clearly insufficient. My partner had to complain to get another glass of coke. To summarise…our opinion is that the entertainment was ok but the food and drinks was very disappointing. Overall not very good value for money.

Dinner cruise

Strengths: - Turkish show; - Unlimited non-alcoholic drinks; - Attentive crew. Negative point: - Quality of the food is not very good, but it is understandable considering the amount paid, the quantity is sufficient;
