This is a nice day out in nature, including lakes, mountains, woods and medieval buildings. Our guide, Paolo, was warm and welcoming, does speak English and Italian, and is very knowledgeable about the history of the area and enjoys sharing that knowledge. This is not a long hike per se, but it is challenging nonetheless since the up hills are quite steep, so we did get a workout even though we walked less than a mile. There was plenty to see and learn about on our walk and the views are phenomenal. We were able to take beautiful photos. Paolo brought us to a very nice restaurant where we enjoyed several courses of excellent Italian food and wine. We later walked through a small, very quaint and charming little town that really made us feel we were in the old Italy. This was a great experience with a knowledgeable, friendly guide.
We had an amazing time on hike at Castle Lake and visiting Castle di Toro. Paolo was an incredible guide. He is immersed in the town and culture and he shares his knowledge with passion. The views are absolutely stunning. You have to get to the lake which is about an hour outside of Rome. We rented a car for the day which worked out well. It is well worth the trip. I highly recommend the tour. Thank you Paolo!

My husband and I absolutely loved our private hike through the stunning Turano countryside with Paulo. The views were nothing short of breathtaking from every angle—truly unforgettable. Paulo went above and beyond by sharing a fantastic local lunch with us and entertaining us with fascinating stories about the history surrounding Castel Di Tora. He even treated us to an extra espresso before we headed back to the city. We only wished we could have stayed longer to soak in more of the area’s charm. Huge thanks to Paulo for his incredible hospitality and for sharing his secret slice of paradise with us. If you get the chance, do yourself a favor and escape the city to visit this charming village. You won’t regret it!
We had a great day with Paulo. If you are looking for a different kind of experience and want to get out of Rome for a day and view the beautiful country side, I would recommend this experience. The lunch was great as well. We went with our 3 adult children and we all enjoyed the day.
We had an absolutely wonderful experience on this tour with our amazing host, Paulo. From the very beginning, he was warm, welcoming, and incredibly informative. He truly made the day special with his knowledge and kindness. Castel di Tora was nothing short of magical. The weather was perfect, and we felt like we had stepped into a postcard. Hiking up to the castle, we found ourselves completely alone at the top—just us and the breathtaking views. We then strolled through the charming village, soaking in its beauty and peaceful atmosphere. Lunch was a highlight—delicious food and wine enjoyed on a terrace overlooking the sparkling lake. It was the perfect setting to relax and savor the moment. This tour was the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of Rome, giving us a chance to slow down and enjoy the stunning Italian countryside. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a genuine and memorable experience!
A wonderful day spent exploring and learning about the culture and history. We thoroughly enjoyed Palo and found him to be honest and informative and very respectful. We are the most delicious lunch which I will always remember. This day was exceptional and I would highly recommend this excursion.

This was the last and CERTAINLY THE BEST excursion from our trip. From start to finish, it was truly AMAZING! Paolo and his wife are extremely hospitable, friendly and informative. He took us to see the beauty of the area and then his wife cooked us a traditional Italian meal! SO DELICIOUS! BEST MEAL FROM OUR TRIP! The entire day was FAR BEYOND our expectations. The Hiking Lake + Good Food experience was our day trip adventure from Rome. My teenager could not believe how it took just a little over an hour to come from the busy life of Rome to the beautiful mountains and valleys of Turano. Paolo was a wonderful host who shared a wealth of knowledge with us about the region and Borgo di Monte Antuni. He was responsive, enthusiastic, helped us navigate train schedules, and provided a rich and fulling experience. Plus, great fresh pasta and more! As other reviewers note, this tour experience is truly a gem!
