Itinerary

Lisbon driving time to Fatima :1Hr20Mns The Sanctuary of Fátima annually welcomes hundred of thousands of pilgrims and tourists. Many come to participate in the celebrations that commemorate the apparitions of Our Lady to the three children witness of Fátima from May to October.

Driving time from Fatima to Batalha: 30Mns Lunch Time: 1Hr +/- One of the most fascinating places in the Iberian Peninsula. A decisive event for the consolidation of the Portuguese nation took place on August 14, 1385, near the spot where the Monastery of Batalha stands: D. João, Master of Avis and the future king of Portugal, overcame the Castilian armies in the battle of Aljubarrota. This victory put an end to a dynastic crisis that had dragged on since 1383, since the death of King Ferdinand, whose only daughter was married to the King of Castile, an aspirant to the throne of Portugal. D. João dedicated the monastery to the Virgin Mary, who he had invoked to intercede his triumph and donated it to the Dominican Order, to which his confessor belonged. This gave way to the birth of a work whose construction would last for almost two centuries and which resulted in one of the most fascinating Gothic monuments of the Iberian Peninsula.

30 min

Driving time from Batalha monastey to Nazare: 35Mns Nazaré beach, with its mild climate and natural beauty, has one of the most ancient traditions connected to fishing in Portugal. The long sandy half-moon shaped beach, which is also the town’s sea front, is known for its grandeur and for the brightly-coloured awnings that decorate the white sandy beaches, contrasting with the blue of the water. These days, Nazaré’s major attractions are the waves and surfing, thanks to the "Nazaré Canyon", a submarine geomorphological phenomenon that allows the formation of perfect giant waves. It is the largest underwater canyon in Europe, about 170 kilometres along the coast, reaching a depth of 5,000 metres.

60 min

Driving time from Nazare to Obidos: 40Mns The medieval town of Óbidos is one of the most picturesque and well preserved in Portugal. Quite close to the capital and located on high ground near the Atlantic coast, Óbidos has had a strategic importance in the territory. It had already been settled prior to the Romans’ arrival in the Iberian Peninsula, and the town prospered after being chosen by the royal family. King Dinis offered it to his wife, Queen Isabel, in the 13th century, and it became part of Casa das Rainhas (Queens’ Estate), who improved and enriched it throughout the various dynasties. This is one of the main reasons for the high concentration of churches in this small place. Driving time Obidos to Lisbon: 45Mns

Lisbon in 2 Days

Our guide who was born & raised in Lisbon, was extremely impressive and knowledgeable of his beloved city & country. His goal was always aim to please. We loved his history knowledge and his background stories of each unique area we visited. Our group consisted of a family 6 with a 12 & 14 and he was extremely accommodating to that fact. For example our tour to the football stadium was wonderful. We would definitely book again with this company.

Lucky to Meet Pedro

Thank you, Pedro, for an outstanding experience. Your knowledge, service and attention to detail were perfect! Our hotel arranged a car service to drive my wife and me to Fatima from Lisbon. Our ½ day trip quickly turned into a full day excursion to multiple sites. We were so comfortable with Pedro, we booked him for the following day. On day 2 we did wine tours, visited a cork factory, a tile factory, shared both lunch and dinner, and visited areas we would not have known to seek out. Pedro quickly became part of our family and we relied on him to plan 2 additional days for us in Porto. On the drive to Porto, he insisted we stop in Combria to see the University and we were extremely glad we listened to him. The library and chapel were magnificent. The following day, he arranged wine tours in the Douro Valley, lunch and dinner. After 4 days it was time to tell Pedro goodbye and it felt like we were saying goodbye to one of our kids. Pedro was a wealth of knowledge and an all-round gentleman. We look forward to seeing him again on our next trip.
