Falkland Islands Shared Tour Sightseeing with Penguins

Description
GOOD NEWS UPDATE! – Price frozen for 2026/27 season This is a fun, shared tour which incorporates penguins, fantastic views and some short walks all in the great company of our local accredited guides who will share their knowledge and personal insights of living in a remote part of the world. If you are arriving on a cruise ship, we will meet you at the tender landing area (Jetty Visitor Centre) for either the 9:00 or 12.00 departure time for the 2.5-hour tour. The town tour takes in all the local landmarks and we offer the option to leave the tour at the Museum which is a short walk (10 minutes) from the Jetty Visitor Centre, or return to your pick-up point. The tour does involve some walking over uneven ground so is not suitable for wheel chairs or those with mobility aids.

Itinerary
NB: 04/12/2025 Yorke Bay is again open to the public. In the event that Yorke bay is closed at any point during the season we will extend the tour to both the East (Sapper Hill, Wireless Ridge areas) and the West of Stanley (Cape Pembroke, Surf Bay) to ensure you enjoy the maximum coverage of the Stanley area. Please be assured that while there may be less penguins, the replacement content and quality of our guides will ensure that you will be well informed about all things Falklands from start to finish.
Lying at the east end of Stanley Harbour is Stanley's most imposing and iconic shipwreck. Known as Lady Liz, the ship was launched in Sunderland in the UK in 1879 and suffered damage whilst rounding Cape Horn in 1913. She limped into Stanley for repairs but the high cost prevented any being carried out. After various moorings in Stanley Harbour, a violent gale in 1936 forced the Lady Liz into her current resting place. This is a favourite place to get pictures with the back drop of Stanley and the mountains to the West.
FIGAS, (Falkland Islands Government Air Service) has operated Islander aircraft since October 1979 and is the Southern-most operator of the type. The current fleet of five Islanders is essential in keeping the more remote communities connected to Stanley. In addition to air taxi flights, the carrier also undertakes air ambulance, mail delivery, freight, environmental monitoring, fishery patrol, and scenic flights.
Situated towards the western end of Stanley on Ross Road, Government House is both the home and the workplace of the Governor who is King Charles' representative in the Falklands.
Constructed in 1933 from the jawbones of two blue whales, it commemorates a century of continuous British administration in the Falklands. Situated outside Christchurch Cathedral, near the supermarket, gift shop and the tender landing stage it provides excellent photo opportunities and is reccommended as a drop off point for cruise ship visitors.
Islanders are very proud of the Museum which provides a great insight into the social and maritime history of the Islands. Be careful though as time slips away very quickly when you enter and are welcomed by the staff who are happy to chat and answer your questions. Recommended as an optional drop of point at the end of tour with just a short walk to the tender landing stage for cruise ship visitors.
Our guides will walk with you to see Magellanic penguins and other shore birds and views overlooking the harbours.

Informative and entertaining. Our guide Sharon was born and bred Falkland Islander. Very knowledgeable about local wildlife and life in general on the islands. Would highly recommend to future visitors.
Thank you. I Thoroughly enjoyed the time with yourself and Shirley - smooth cruising :-)
This was a great tour. I learned a lot and had a lot of questions answered. The only thing was the problem with hearing the guide due to the speakers/microphone etc going in and out. A little rushed for people that had some accessibility issues like my friend.
Apologies for the mic problem on your tour, that was a one off and we now have a good stock of batteries on board, but glad that you learned a lot about the Falklands
A beautiful tour with lots of information and beautiful viewpoints! The guide we met right after tendering, easy to find and on time back to the ship.
Thank you Rita :-)
Our guide and driver were wonderful and very informative. Loved seeing the Gentoo Penguin colony and especially them on the beach with the dolphins jumping in the ocean behind them
Thank you for your kind words, we were very thrilled to have been able to show you our islands :)
so I would not recommend this tour. The tour operator could not of been better! and the tour was, ok. but if you are coming to the Falkland Islands you need to spend the money and go to volunteer point. I guess I'd say it's gypsy cove that I don't recommend. which is where this tour goes. Yes, we saw penguins, and even king penguins, but you get what you pay for. And I just wish we had paid the money to see the best or most penguins. tour operator went over, beyond, and above! But I would recommend other areas over gypsy cove.
Thank you for positive comments on our tour that also takes in Yorke Bay, and a town tour all the while in the company of our informative guides. We provide our tour exactly as described.
Trip was exactly as described and Rob, our guide, was interesting and informative. We saw Magellenic, Gentoo and even some King penguins at Yorke Bay. We had a bit of time to spare, so Rob took us to the lighthouse as well. I thought that the trip was a bit expensive for the length, but this seems to be the case on the island. I guess they have to make up for all the ships that don't get in, in which case we are very lucky! 😀
Glad you enjoyed your tour with Rob
Thank you Sharon and Hailey! Learned a lot about Falkland Islands. The visit to the dunes was fantastic.
Thank you, glad you enjoyed your time in the Falklands
A really fun and informative tour . Sharon was an excellent guide , knowledgeable and with a great sense of humour, who was ably assisted by her driver Kaps . Sharon and Kaps between them paid care to the less able walkers in the group while ensuring that this did not impact on other members of the group. Communication prior to the trip was excellent, especially considering that a change of cruise itinerary meant arriving a day earlier than scheduled. Thank you Sharon and Kaps for a fantastic day , we do enjoyed meeting you and the penguins were an added bonus!
Thank you Angela, we had a great day out with you all and lots of laughs all around. Come back soon! :-)
Very nice tour. We were given a deep understanding of the island history and culture. Penguins were a little disappointing.
Thank you so much for your kind words, happy cruising :)
Just as described. Good sightseeing, great hike and penguin watching. Guide was exceptional with lots of local insight.
We are glad you enjoyed our tour, happy cruising :)
