Adrian (Mr Bean) Rocks!!

They WILL get you back to the ship with plenty of time to spare. Don’t buy into the cruise scare tactics to get you to buy their uber overpriced same excursion!! Second, you will travel with several other Land Cruisers; point being, even if one breaks down they all carry spare tires and also capable of towing themselves if one gets bogged down. Worst case scenario, you will be in the luggage area (albeit uncomfortable) BUT they will get you back on time. Did I say that clear enough, they will get you back on time. Jimmy is amazing, we communicated via WhatsApp very effectively, and I understand from another client that email also works very well. He is super responsive and at least for me, eased my angst of being left at the cruise port prior to the excursion! BUT, take the earliest tender you can get on. Everything will be swell. Our driver Adrian (AKA Mr Bean) was excellent! He is mature man, very safe driver, even on the worst boggs he managed to make the ride as smooth as possible and even on the worst of conditions always felt we would navigate it successfully! That’s part of the adventure you are paying for so enjoy it! You will have AMPLE time to experience all three kinds of Penguins, follow the few very common sense rules (like don’t touch the wildlife or chase after them; like act like a civilized human being and you will have a phenomenal time). Highly recommended and if we ever have the privilege of going back to the Falklands we will absolutely pay for this experience again!! Jimmy and Adrian Rock!!! Note; I am a real paying client, not associated with this company and we did not receive any special treatment or anything free to write this honest review!

This trip was a great day...

This trip was a great day out seeing the beautiful countryside of the Falkland and the penguins by the sea. The off road bit was interesting and the driver was very skilled finding the way down to the point seeing the King Penguins was a wonderful experience and watching them on the sea was something special.

Land Rover to the End of the World

Expect a 90-minute off road Land Rover ride from the cruise terminal to the Point. If it’s raining, carry an umbrella and wear warm clothes.

Unforgettable spot with king penguins

An indescribable encounter with the king penguins (hundreds) and the donkey penguins among sheep and geese. Right on a great white wide beach. Getting to Jeaps is adventurous on the last few kilometres, but then very exclusive. Our driver Evan was very knowledgeable about the local area and did a “city tour” with us on the way back. Very individual. Price / performance is absolutely right

Great Volunteer Point Penguin Tour

Great experience and one of the best run tours we have been on . Jimmy and his tour guides (in yellow jackets) could easily be seen from the tender before we got off. Jimmy just took our names and we were good to go. 4 people were assigned to a guide (Evan was ours) and a 4x4 Land Rover or like type vehicles . We quickly departed in a convoy of 4 vehicles. Our guide was a local and was a wealth of knowledge on Falkland Island sites, wildlife, and history along with sharing many of his personal stories of growing up there. It took around 2 hours to get to Volunteer point with the last 10 miles being on a rugged off road. Similar to a safari type environment. Volunteer point is full off penguins mostly kings and Gen 2s. There were also a number of sheep and other birds there. The coast line there is very scenic. We stayed around 2 hours and returned to Port Stanley where Evan drove us around and shared much information on this area. We got back to town in enjoy time in Port Stanley before taking tender back to ship. Would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to visit Volunteer point and see the penguins. Evan our guide did a fantastic job!

All around great day

Wonderful trip to Volunteer Point. Jimmy and his yellow jacket crew are fantastic! (Evan is ready for a jacket! He was a great driver, extremely knowledgeable, and a pleasure to talk with all day.) The off-roading to get there was fun and, of course, the penguins were amazing. They put on a great “show” for us. So enjoyable. Appreciated the homemade sandwiches! All around, great day.

If you want to watch the penguins - that's the way to do it.

Great experience overall. We got to see 3 types of penguins at the Volunteer point. It's about a 1.5 hour drive one way in a 4x4, which is an experience on its own. Definitely highlight of our trip, I highly recommend it.

Volunteer Point a must see for Falkland Islands.

It’s a 90 minute plus ride to the colony of King Penguins. The “road less traveled” is fitting, with nearly 25 minutes of off-road travel in first gear as the Range Rover has to travail nature to get to the place the colony calls home - Volunteer Point. You’ll see merino sheep everywhere, because you’re traveling to the corner of a 57,000 acre ranch. Once the colony is in sight you’re amazed at the sheer size of these extraordinary creatures. Burrowing Magellanic as well as Gentoo Penguins graced the colony made up of 1200 King Penguins and their chicks. This is an extraordinary experience and Jimmy’s crew were the most respected of the tour guides. Their equipment and experience made us feel comfortable and confident. Highly recommend, without reservation, Jimmy Curtis Touring.
