Itinerary
Start your day by driving to Fátima, roughly 1h15 away from Lisbon, a city that developed after the apparitions of Virgin Mary back in 1917.
At Fátima Sanctuary you'll find an unique ambiance of devotion, whether you're a believer or not, it's impossible to feel indifferent at this place of great spirituality that receives millions of pilgrims each year. You'll have around 45 minutes free time to enjoy as you prefer.
Learn all about the legend of Virgin Mary's apparitions to three shepherd children in 1917 and what became the most adored devotion in Portugal: the one of Our Lady of Fátima.
Drive from Fátima to Batalha along the countryside. If it's already time, enjoy lunch in Batalha (not included).
Visit the best example of late Gothic (14th century) architecture in Portugal, the Batalha Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage site. It was built in commemoration of the 1385 battle (batalha) of Aljubarrota against the Castillians and its original name is in fact Mosteiro de Santa Maria da Vitória (Monastery of Saint Mary of the Victory).
Drive to Nazaré, a charming seaside town where local fishermen haul in fresh catches from the ocean. Don't miss the opportunity of tasting this fresh fish at lunch (not included), if you didn't lunch in Batalha.
Learn all about the legend of Nazaré and how the Virgin Mary had a miraculous intervention in 1182, which saved the life of the Portuguese knight Dom Fuas Roupinho (possibly a Templar) of falling down a 100 meter cliff, while he was hunting deer one morning in a dense fog. On this place it was built a chapel.
Nowadays Nazaré is also known for being the capital of big wave surfing, holding the record of the largest wave ever ridden (33 meters), in 2015.
Drive to Óbidos, where you'll have free time to explore the narrow streets inside the walled village.
Your guide will be happy to share a Ginjinha with you, the traditional liquor of this region.

Joanna took us on a day tour to Fatima, Nazareth and Obidos. She was very friendly, informative, knowledgeable and she made us feel very comfortable and welcome. I highly recommend taking a day tour with Joanna.
Wonderful tour and guide! Simon was amazing. Knew all the local history and shared personal anecdotes. Highly recommend Simon!!!!!!.
Wonderful and very informative tour with Simon. He was fantastic and we had a great day with him. Our day was very interesting. We love Fatima.
Had a wonderful time, Simon is one of the best tour guides. He made the entire experience great. I would highly recommend his tours.
This turned out to be essentially a private tour since my wife and I were the only participants on the day we ventured out. Our guide was Simon (anglicized ), who gave us a lot of information and kept the conversation flowing all day. Being alone, we were able to time our own stops, which worked out perfectly for us. We felt that Obidos was by far the most interesting. The tour also included a some nice freebies: water bottles and a couple of free drinks in Obidos. The tour was well worth the cost.
The guide was fantastic & very accommodating. The van was extremely clean. The guide was wonderful & accommodating . He started the day going over the options and planning our wonderful day
This was an outstanding tour. Tiago was a great driver who drove very safely. He provided interesting information and was knowledgeable as to the areas we visited. He was friendly, and we were very happy with his guidance. The time allowed to visit each site was appropriate for what we wanted to do. At Fatima we saw the Churches, the site of the Apparition and the votive candle lighting and burning. The lines were long so participation in the actual experiences (burning of votive candles, attendance at mass) was not possible and not what we wanted anyway. Batalha was interesting and historic with time to see all we wanted to see - likewise for Nazare. While there were none of the giant waves (only occur in winter), Nazare was a beautiful beach and a must see. Obidos was an impressive walled city and worth the visit, again a must see. Overall, a great day which was not overly strenuous. We would highly recommend this tour.
A well organized tour. Nuno was an excellent well informed guide. He was open to questions and provided great information.
Amazing experience visiting the faith and heritage of the area. Great views, our guide was well knowledgeable in his history
Very nice trip, if you want to see Portugal outside of Lisbon. The driver was also the tour guide, he provided a lot of historical background on the places we visited. This tour had a lot of free time for individuals to visit places at their own pace and preference. The guide pointed out where everything was, where he would pick us back up, and there was plenty of time at each location.
