Itinerary
Stand at the heart of one of the world’s most sacred pilgrimage destinations — the Chapel of the Apparitions, marking the exact site where the Virgin Mary appeared to three shepherd children in 1917. Experience the calm and devotion that fill this remarkable place, where faith and history intertwine, and take a moment to reflect in its peaceful, spiritual atmosphere.
Explore the Sanctuary of Fátima, a place of profound devotion and one of the most visited pilgrimage sites in the world. Step inside the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, where faith and history meet, and hear the moving story of the Virgin Mary’s apparitions to the shepherd children — Lúcia, Francisco, and Jacinta — in 1917. Embrace the tranquility and spiritual energy that continue to make Fátima a timeless symbol of hope and inspiration.
Learn about Portugal’s royal past from the Batalha Monastery, a majestic UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the country’s greatest Gothic masterpieces. Built in the 14th century to celebrate Portugal’s victory at the Battle of Aljubarrota, this monumental complex stands as a symbol of faith, artistry, and national pride. Admire the exquisite stone carvings of the Founder’s Chapel, where King João I, Queen Philippa of Lancaster, and their son, Prince Henry the Navigator, rest beneath intricately sculpted tombs.
We continue to Sítio da Nazaré, perched dramatically atop a cliff offering stunning panoramic views over the Atlantic Ocean. This is also the site of the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Nazaré and the iconic Fort of São Miguel Arcanjo, near the world-famous surfing hotspot where record-breaking waves draw adventurers from around the globe. A perfect photo stop and a chance to connect with both spiritual legend and natural spectacle.
Descend to the seaside village of Nazaré, where tradition and beachside charm meet. Stroll the picturesque promenade, watch the colorful fishing boats, and feel the Atlantic breeze. Guests can relax at a café, dip their toes in the ocean, or enjoy a fresh seafood lunch (optional, not included). Nazaré’s unique blend of culture and coastal life makes it a highlight of any trip.
Conclude your journey in the enchanting medieval village of Óbidos, one of Portugal’s most beautifully preserved towns. Encircled by ancient stone walls, Óbidos is a labyrinth of cobblestone streets, whitewashed houses adorned with bright flowers, and charming artisan boutiques. Once gifted to Queen Isabel in the 13th century, the town earned the title of the “Wedding Gift Village.” As you wander through its picturesque alleys, discover cozy bookstores, chocolate shops, and the lively spirit that fills the village during its many festivals. To end your visit, savor a tasting of the traditional Ginjinha liqueur, enjoyed in a beloved local shop that has been perfecting this sweet cherry recipe for generations — a delicious finale to a day of discovery.

A nice balanced trip between travel and time on site. Fatima was brilliant, Nazare was quaint and Obidos was amazing.
If you consider the tour self- guided and research the area ahead of time you will be happy with the experience. The guide was difficult to understand and did not speak to the entire group. The bus was loud and he was not louder. When gathering in a group not all could hear him and he did not attempt to speak to us all. We enjoyed the places that we went to.
The tour guide, JLo (Lopes) was 5 stars. Very engaging and funny. However, I booked this tour as a "small group tour with a maximum of 8 people." I specifically chose this tour because it was advertised as a "small group." Instead, 21 people showed up including a 3 year old for a 10+ hour day. Instead of having a small group experience we had a cruise ship experience. That's not what we paid for. That said, again, the tour guide, JLo, was 5 stars and what we saw was really worth seeing.
Great, well organized trip with too many highlights mention, but I could go on and on- during free time in Fatima we were able to attend an outdoor service just by luck of being there at the right time, in Obidos we walked a wall over 2700 years old and enjoyed Ginga, a cherry drink in an edible chocolate cup! In the quaint beach town of Nazare we enjoyed a great meal and the wild waves. It was all awesome and knowing about their history made them even more so. Comfortable van, nice small group experience with a wonderful guide, Alexander! By the time this informative, eye-opening, and fun tour ended, it felt like we were a family and with Alexander as our guide, I have a new understanding of so many things about Portugal. I definitely recommend it and if you are lucky, perhaps Alexander will also be your guide!
Mario was a great guide. Friendly, spoke great English. Good stories and knowledge. Comfortable ride and pace.
It was a very nice experience with authentic flavors. Thanks to our guide Mike, we met fabulous craftsmen from the restaurant and local products. These were very rewarding moments.
First, let me say that this day was made perfect by our guide, Alexander. He was early to the meeting point, kind, friendly, easy to understand, spanking perfect English. He was able to translate for some Portuguese passengers as well, but was kind to ask our permission/patience. He shared a bit about himself and many many historical and anecdotal nuggets of information during our very full day. He was most enjoyable as he was impassioned about his job, cared about our experience, and loved his country, traditions, history, and culture. We had a full day from Lisbon to Fatima, Balthalha, Nazare, and Obidos. This was just enough time in each location and included opportunity to use bathrooms, get snack/drinks, and explore on your own. We decided to lunch with the group in our van, including Alexander. Was a lovely seafood restaurant and he helped to translate my dietary needs. At the Obidos stop, we had a free treat of ghinginha at a 4 generation family run shop, which was original to this very old town! Of course we had to bring some home! My only wish is that we had placed this day trip with Alexander earlier in our vacation!!! We would have had a better context from his colorful, factual storytelling to give greater meaning to the rest of our vacay!!! He is one of the very best guides we have ever had of all trips we have ever taken. If you are considering this or any tour with him, don’t hesitate! You will be happy you booked this tour. We learned everything from music and food to weather Portuguese history, architecture, nature, and fauna…so much more I can’t list them all! He was every bit as entertaining as he was informative! This was 8-5pm and worth every minute and every euro! 8 persons in our group, fit well in big van. Comfy fit and air temp. Alexander was a terrifically safe and conscientious driver!
This tour was very nice. Fátima was a nice experience. Hard to see original site because there is now an outdoor church/chapel built on it and there are constant services. Did get to have communion though.
Our trip started from Lisbon to Fatima which is about an hour drive on a heavily rainy day , the driver was so sleepy that we had to stop for coffee. There were 8 passengers in the van and it was difficult to hear all he was saying especially when seated at the back. He was however knowledgeable. Having a PA system would make the experience better. Would recommend this trip as long as JLo the driver had his cup of coffee 😊
This was the perfect day tour to see places other than Lisbon. The right amount of time was spent in each location, and we never felt rushed. Mike our tour guide was very informative, helpful and very very funny. His sense of humor made the day even better. Van was comfortable.
