Maria, our guide, was amazing. Her knowledge and enthusiasm to the area were fantastic. Highly recommended to anyone wanting the full experience
Tour was good but the tour company was very disorganized, rebooked my time from 5:00 to 2:10 and then split my tour into two separate times.
Our tour guide of the Colosseum was terrific and we enjoyed the tour. But then she told us we had to wait in a long line on our own to get into the Roman Forum or Palatine Hill. There was no tour or skip-the-line offered for either. This felt quite different than what the description said and what we paid for.
Tour was delayed for over an hour. We had only 30 minutes to tour the Forum. Went to the Coliseum for what was supposed to be a two hour tour, however, it was to an hour. Our three hour tour lasted only two hours. On the bright side our tour guides were very knowledgeable.
Our guide Maya gave us a memorable experience. Without her we would not have known what we were truly looking at.
Our Colosseum guide Katsa, is very knowledgeable, funny, & patient person. She provided excellent context behind this amazing structure! We are a small group of 10, including 2 teenagers. Katsa made sure everyone was engaged. She provided thoughtful tips (like the location of the less crowded bathrooms) & was so kind in taking photos! Please note that there is a long line at security check in but it seemed to be efficient & the time passed quickly, at least to me. Highly recommend to take a small group tour with Katsia!
Colosseum & Arena Floor: Guided Tour. Guide was knowledgeable but clearly in a rush and complained about the number of tourists visiting his city. £200 for a tour which lasted about an hour though billed as 90 mins with nothing you can't learn from a Lonely Planet guide book. Also, we had to go back to the tour office to get the tickets for the Forum and Palatine as they hadn't given them to the tour guide! Unfortunately because of all the tour companies feeding off the tourist trade there are very few tickets available to just wander the sites yourself which is a much better way to go. The tickets for a family of four if you can get them are 42 euros. Not a bad mark up!
The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable in topics about the Roman Colosseum, but when asked about historic events somewhat related to the Colosseum couldn't answer with certainty. It could be that his English was somewhat limited. Also, the company didn't give us from the beginning the tickets to visit the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill. So when the tour finished at the Colosseum (the guided tour is just for the Colosseum) and asked the guide, he told us we had to get back to the office which was not close. This was not the guide's fault, but we had to walk back to the office under the rain and trying to sort the crowds. I found the experience somewhat disorganized
Our guide was informative when it came to the Colosseum, but it all seemed a bit unorganized. Once Colosseum tour ended, we were given tickcets to Palatine Hill and The Roman Forum and were left to figure out the rest on our own. It would have been nice to have some sort of explanation to those things as well.
Felt taken advantage of. Paid for a guided tour and was only guided through the colosseum and then given tickets to enter and explore on my own. Waste of money. Better to just buy all your tickets yourself and save yourself a lot of money.
