Worst $100 spent ever. Our tour was set for 1pm. I show up at the place they said to validate tickets but you don’t need to do that and so then you have to meet them at another location. Then someone walks you for what felt like 15mins on the sweltering heat to go pick up tickets. We had to wait there for a while and then walk all the way back. I almost passed out from heat exhaustion. So now it’s 1:40pm and the tour begins. The tour guy didn’t pin his microphone to his collar so all you can hear is Amit noise and the sound of his keys clanking. I learned nothing. He basically just takes us to look at the coliseum. If you have a basic knowledge of the Roman Empire and Gladiators, the tour guide is nonsense. Skip it. Now I’m exhausted. Ruined the day.
We are sorry to hear that the experience did not meet your expectations, but we would like to clarify a few details about the tour format. This booking includes access to Mamertine Prison as part of the experience, and visiting this site requires walking between locations as part of the planned itinerary. The route and inclusions are clearly outlined in advance, so this experience is not limited only to the Colosseum. Regarding the timing, ticket collection and entry procedures are part of the scheduled experience and may require short waits depending on operational conditions at the sites. We would also like to note that this was a small group tour with only six participants, which normally allows guests to stay close to the guide and interact more easily throughout the experience. We regret that the weather conditions made the visit uncomfortable and that the experience did not match your expectations.
Our tour guide was hilarious and definitely improved our original opinion. Bit unorganized at the start. The meeting place was nowhere near where the map told us to go - luckily someone came and asked us if we were lost and directed us below to the rest of the group. At the end of the tour - after asking a couple times, I still don’t know where to go for the rest of our self guided tour. It was just ok - loved the guide but that’s it.
Thank you for your feedback. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed the guide and his sense of humor. We would however like to mention that the meeting point details are clearly explained in the booking confirmation, including detailed directions, a contact phone number, and the possibility to message us directly through Viator if any assistance is needed before the tour. We are sorry to hear there was still some confusion at the start, but we are glad that our staff was able to help you find the group quickly. Regarding the self-guided portion, the guide provided instructions at the end of the tour, though we understand it may have felt overwhelming in such a busy area. Thank you again for your feedback and for joining our tour.
