Itinerary
This is a real exclusive guided tour. You will avoid lines and crowds, getting directly inside the Colosseum Arena. Walk in the footsteps of the Roman gladiators through the "Libitinaria" Gate of Death (A special entrance not open to the general public) and see through their eyes as they battle in violent confrontations with other gladiators, wild animals, and condemned criminals. You will enjoy a special perspective of the Colosseum, feeling like a real gladiator during the ludus gladiatorius. Your guide will tell you all about gladiators fighting and will tell many stories about fool emperors who played in the arena as gladiators against wild beasts. From the arena floor, you will also have a view directly above of the undergrounds.
Your exclusive guided tour will continue with the Colosseum first and second rings. Admire the incredible engineering genius of the Romans and hear about the incredible speed at which they were able to build.
Since we aim to provide you with the best understanding of Ancient Rome, our tour would have not been complete without helping you discover two highlights of the ancient times: the Roman Forum and the Palatine Hill. As a result, your tour will continue to the Roman Forum, the central square of ancient Rome. Here you can learn about the daily life of the typical Roman citizen. You will be introduced to their social and religious customs. The most interesting part of the Roman Forum is that even though it initially started as a market place, in time it became much more purposeful and it became surrounded by imposing civic buildings. The future of the empire started being decided here, and a tour of the Roman Forum would be an interactive lesson about the power of the empire.

Our guide was Giulio and he was absolutely fantastic! I would recommend this tour a thousand times over! So much information, so many private experiences, it was truly a highlight of our trip.
Our guide Enza Broccoli was great! We went underground at the colosseum and then through the palatine hill and forum. It’s definitely worth it to have someone knowledgeable explaining what you’re looking at.
1. We arrived at 2:15 (a half hour before our time as requested), we could not find the “Italy with family” flag, it was hidden behind the “Ultimate Italy” flag. (They run tours for both companies) 2. Upon checking in they only saw us listed under the Roman Forum tour, when we had purchased the Colosseum and Roman Forum tour at 2:45. Eventually they found us listed in the 3:15 time slot for the Roman forum tour and the 4:40 time slot for the Colosseum. 3. The main point of contact avoided me when I approached with additional questions / clarifications. 3. 2 separate tours- we did tour 1, with one tour guide and then had to find our own way back to the meeting point (running because of the mismanaged timing) to meet tour guide number 2. (We in fact saw our first tour guide and group doing the same tour our second tour, at the same time). 4. Our tours ended 1.5 hours late because of the changed start time and not being 1 continuous tour. I must say the tour guides themselves, were good. The poor customer service and disorganization were my issues.
The meeting spot was very easy to find. Even though it was extremely busy, they seemed very organized. The tour was great, and our tour guide was very knowledgeable.
THE ITALIAN GUIDE COULD SPEAK IN ENGLISH, BUT IT WAS SO HEAVILY ACCENTED, THAT UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO UNDERSTAND WHAT HE WAS SAYING.
Cristian was an EXCELLENT tour guide for our coliseum and Roman forum tour for our family. He was incredibly knowledgeable, sweet and went above and beyond in every way to make our tour special. I strongly recommend you book a guided tour with Cristian when you visit Rome.
My tour was at 3pm. My ticket verified this information. I show up and no one ever shows up. I requested a refund and was denied. The tour company decided to change the time of this tour and I was unaware. Viator refuses to refund my money because the tour company decided to change the time. This was not my mistake nor should I be penalized for it. Very disappointed as I booked this about a month in advance for the only day I would be able to visit the Colosseum. Who knows when I’d be able to go back to Rome. A text with the time change would have gone a long way. DO NOT BOOK!!!
We did the Colosseum Underground/Arena and Roman Forum guided tour (in English). Our guide Barbara was very knowledgeable and passionate about Roman history. She was very articulate and easy to understand, and everything she explained was very interesting. We enjoyed the tour, and we highly recommend it.
Barbara our guide did an excellent job showing us around . Great insight and knowledge of the sites ,loved her enthusiasm and fun around the tour ,
Colosseum was one of our favorite spots in Rome! Thanks to Viator we were able to get first hand of the history behind the stadium!
