Smart timed itinerary: This semi-private tour is planned around the scheduled Colosseum Arena entry. Morning tours usually begin in the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill before entering the Colosseum. Afternoon tours usually begin with the Colosseum Arena entry, followed by the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill. Semi-private group (max 6): A genuinely small group for easier movement through the sites, time for photos, and plenty of questions. Guaranteed Arena Floor access: Arena Floor access is guaranteed on the bookable dates shown. Enter the Colosseum through the Gladiator’s Gate and step onto the Arena Floor, with views of the underground service areas from above. Named tickets + ID: Tickets are name-specific. Please bring original photo ID. First and last names must match; middle names are not required. Licensed, English-speaking guide throughout.

Roman Forum & Palatine Archaeological Area: Walk through the political and ceremonial heart of Ancient Rome. Your guide brings the Forum to life with clear orientation points and stories that connect the temples, arches, and civic spaces to daily life, power, and public ceremony.
Palatine Hill: Continue onto the Palatine, the legendary birthplace of Rome and later the emperors’ neighbourhood. We focus on the most scenic viewpoints and key areas to tie the stories of Rome’s origins to the landscape you’re standing in.
Colosseum + Arena Floor: Enter through the Gladiator’s Gate and step onto the Arena Floor for the classic “gladiator’s-eye” view. From here we look down into the hypogeum from above while your guide explains how the machinery and staging worked behind the scenes. We then continue through the Colosseum’s main interior levels, focusing on its architecture, engineering, and the realities of the spectacles. Entry is at a reserved time slot; the itinerary is designed to reach the Colosseum on time.

We were hosted by Marle for private tours of the Vatican and Colosseum. Marle has a real passion for Rome and was a very informative tour guide. There was an overwhelming amount of artefacts to see at both locations and this tour was a perfect way to take it all in a short space of time. Although this tour is not cheap, we felt like it was good value for money for the quality of tour guide and for an experience with no waiting in lines.

We booked this tour based on reviews and Merel did not disappoint. I was super relieved that it was not cancelled as the group was very small. Our guide brought the history to life and she was unbelievably knowledgeable about Rome! She even gave suggestions for stops on the remaining days of our vacation. She was friendly and we also had a trainee Jerod who made the tour fun! Communication throughout the days leading to the tour was excellent and appreciated. Would highly recommended.

Racist guide. Made harsh and racist comments against French people. Really disappointing. I do not recommend this tour

A fantastic tour which was made by the knowledge and enthusiasm of our guide, Teresa. Her narration of the history of the Colosseum and Forum was full of small anecdotes (who knew that the fertility of the Roman nobles was affected by the lead pipes in their palaces!) as well as describing a broad sweep of Roman history. The trip ‘underground’ is definitely worth the extra money, absolutely fascinating and a view of the Colosseum that most of the crowds miss. Highly recommended.
