Castel Sant Angelo Tour With Skip the line Access

Excellent guide. She was very passionate about describing the history of this magnificent mausoleum-turned-castle. There is a lot of amazing art to explore as well. And the view from the rooftop is a plus.

I loved the Castel Sant Angelo. There is so much history here and it is massive and beautiful. Our tour guide (a British female) had such an amazing knowledge of Rome and the Castel. I could listen to her for hours just for the history alone. I find it fascinating. In saying that, this was a tour of the Castel Sant Angelo, not a history lesson. I loved hearing about everything, but I didn't get to see much of anything. She would stand in one place for 20 minutes talking. She did that about 3 times and that was the tour. We did more standing and listening than seeing. I think we saw 2 rooms and the top. I wish she would have walked while she talked. I loved the history but I didn't get to see the Castel and that is what I paid for. I am disappointed because we didn't see much of the castel and paid a lot of money to do just that. I feel like I have a history of the Castel now and need to go back to actually see it. It should have been both in this tour.

Martina was FANTASTIC!! She made the history of Rome come alive on the Castel St’Angelo tour. By far the best tour in the city. It literally ties all the years of Rome together and created a full understanding. Absolutely an incredible experience and I highly recommend this tour!!

Let us tell you that our experience with the guided tour of the Castle of Sant’Angelo in Rome was, without exaggeration, one of the worst situations we have ever experienced traveling. We were traveling with two adults and a 9-year-old child. When purchasing tickets through Tiqets, it was clearly indicated that the visit for children was free, so we purchased only two adult tickets. However, upon arrival at the meeting point, we were informed that the child could not enter without entry, and the only “solution” we were offered was for two or no people to enter. A completely absurd and unacceptable response, especially in the case of a family with a minor. Far from trying to solve the problem, the situation became even more unpleasant. Doooing Experience guide Martina began speaking in Italian to the castle’s access staff, referring to me as “crazy” and suggesting they not let me in. Absolutely shameful, unprofessional and deeply disrespectful behavior. We tried to contact the company by phone, but were referred to a third party (Civitatis), completely ignoring the situation. In the meantime, the guide decided to continue with the group, leaving us lying around with no solution. The impotence was such that I ended up crying. Only thanks to the empathy of a castle worker, who witnessed the situation, did we finally get all three of them in. But the worst was yet to come. Upon meeting the group again, the guide continued her hostile attitude. He publicly humiliated me in front of all the participants, said again that I was “crazy” and demanded that I leave the group, despite having my ticket valid. When he would not give in, he began physically pushing me away and asked the staff of the rooms to expel me from the compound, accusing me of being a troubled person. To make the situation even worse, one of the participants of the group, also Spanish, sided with them, contributing to an intimidating atmosphere. They cornered me against a wall, pushing me to leave so that the guide could continue the visit. We've never lived like this before. What was supposed to be a pleasant cultural experience for our son turned into an episode of humiliation, helplessness and mistreatment. An absolute lack of professionalism, empathy and respect. We do not recommend this company under any circumstances and I demand accountability against the mistreatment of the Spanish speaking guide, Martina.

This was one of the best tours we have taken in Rome. Our very knowledgeable guide Martina took us through two millennia of Italian history and the different uses for this building throughout that time. Fascinating, delivered with great clarity of timelines with a great overview of its inhabitants through the ages and Martina entertained us with so many interesting minute details along the way. I can highly recommend this tour.
