Itinerary
When you skip the line to step into the Borghese Gallery, the first thing to notice is the tranquility. Set in the former home of 17th-century cardinal Scipione Borghese, the gallery permits entrance only to a select number of visitors each day. Your pre-reserved passes give you a designated time slot for a look at this exclusive collection. Together with an expert art historian, you can see works by a number of renowned artists, such as Caravaggio's David and Goliath and St John the Baptist, Anthony Canova's Pauline Bonaparte, Raphael's The Deposition, and Gian Lorenzo Bernini's Apollo and Daphne, The Rape of Proserpina, and David. Many of the works were commissioned specifically for this space, and the collection offers one of the most incredible experiences for lovers of art in Rome.

Emily was an outstanding guide. Knowledgeable about art history, but also draws you into the experience of seeing the artwork and sculptures in a different light.
Viator is simply a ticket broker that doesn’t seemingly provide any value add. Stick to the services that actually provide the tours and you’ll be better off. We purchased very overpriced tickets to the Borghese and the tour operator cancelled almost immediately after taking payment with no alternative options. Viator sent me the tickets vouchers the day the before as if the tour was still scheduled and I had to go through their customer service to receive a refund.
Excellent tour guide with deep knowledge and insights about the museum. Highly recommend while you are in Rome.
The guide was extremely knowledgeable and motivated to explain the history and the symbolism of paintings and sculptures. It was like a lecture on art history.
The Borghese Gallery has many wonderful pieces of art. We were excited to experience them. Our guide took so long on the first sculpture that we did not get to see every room. We were disappointed. Not sure what we missed. We were on the last tour of the day. Sometimes less is more from your guide.
At meeting point is outside the museum, there will be someone with tour banners, very good tour with the guide
Tour guide was an art history professional from NYC. She provided a detailed explanation of Bernini’s sculptures.
Emily was an amazing tour guide! Taught us so much about the art work. Had a blast would 100% do again!
The tour was perfect! We learnt so much about art, what to look for in a sculpture, the lives of the artists and the models and history of the gallery.
Very knowledgeable tour guide and absolutely beautiful surroundings. Definitely recommend this experience!
