A very sad place to visit but you get to know the knowledge of what went on there. Be prepared for lots of walking as it’s lots of it. The guides tell you everything about it. So worth the visit to find out the truths of what happened.
It was a great and in the same time depressing experience visiting this place where too many innocent people died. They didn't deserve such treatment and death...they would have had the right to live happily. It's sad and unacceptable...
I would give zero stars, because no one showed up from the company the meet me to take me to skip the line or give my entry pass, the phone number for the tour operator would ring and ring and no one answered. The chat option sent me another pin to where to go, it was also wrong. I am 38, I travel a LOT, I have done many tours, and never had an experience as terrible as this one. The company had another rep giving a tour in a different language, and she tried to help, and told me I was in the right spot, and doing everything right, it was the companies fault, and she tried to help, but couldn’t. Absolutely the worst experience with a tour company. I ended up getting a lesser quality tour and paying for the tickets through the museum, and I am anxiously awaiting my refund AND a refund for the parking that I had to pay for twice since I had to leave and go to a different point to enter the tour.
I truly recommend this! We met leader at meeting point and from there we had the experience of a lifetime. The leader at the museum spoke good english and at a correct pace. Though very sad experience it is very informative and flowing.
The company operating the activity - Time4Poland - is offering time slots you can choose from. Once you have booked they are trying to move the activity what fits best for them. In fact they wanted to move us to the next day. Eventually they offered a slot 3,5 hours prior to the time we have booked. If we had known this I would not have invested the time to book the event. For me as a customer it looks like they are fishing for customers but once they find that timing or number of people joining does not fit their itinerary they drop you. Afterwards I had to make efforts to get my money refunded NO BEHAVIOUR I AS A CUSTOMER APPRECIATE - NEVER AGAIN! I have to admit once I have found someone at Viator to talk to the money got refunded within a few minutes.
Viator sent a CONFIRMATION number for our guided tour weeks ahead. We arrived and the actual tour company had NO record of party from Viator. I contacted Viator and they apologized and offered a refund. There were NO other tours available all day. We had further travel plans and reservations and couldn't stay. Wasted over $1000 and a once-in-a-lifetime experience for my family because of Viators mistake. DO NOT RELY ON VIATOR. BOOK DIRECT.
The pure professionalism of the guide , her knowledge and understanding of the subject made the tour really memorable
Thanks to our Polish guide, the visit of the site of the two camps made us better grasp the unforgettable and unforgivable horrors committed by the Nazis in Auschwitz-Birkenau. I can only recommend it to anyone who wants to understand our past and present perils. However, I would like to warn visitors against a rather distasteful scam performed by a society called Edutours Poland, which operates the auschwitz-bilety website, sells tickets for a guided tour on Internet, sends a voucher to its clients, mentioning the date, the hour and the meeting point for the visit—but the guide fails to materialize and the voucher has no value for the Museum of Auschwitz-Birkenau. On the day of my visit, August 6th, a dozen visitors were left stranded in this manner by Edutours.
It is not about the tour, but the lack of company’s (headout aka the auschwizt tours at this case) emphaty and basic understanding. DO NOT RECOMMED as it might be living purely on the customers they have fooled, as they change the times of the tours however they want and give you no actual options for cancelling services after they change the time. It’s all an illusion :) another tip for customers - DO NOT book any other attractions when you schedule your tours with these potential scammers as they might move your tours like 4-5 hours ahead in the same day and do not refund anything because they have warned you that they can do with your booking whatever they please. Buy the tour from official museum site and avoid these potential scammers at all costs
Watever you do, do not book through the auschwitz tour company. Booked a skip the line tour and the day before changed the time for earlier that day. Claiming not enough tour guide. So re-schelduled for couple of days later. The day before the tour yet again changed time by 4 hours but told me less than 24hours so cudnt get refund.
