Plan ahead and be sure to specify that you want a guide, preferably in your language, because this site is exceptional. A duty of remembrance to be perpetuated endlessly Compared to Krakow, the only site visited with Schindler's and the Synagogue where we have documents in French... The French language is spoken too little, even though France has accompanied Poland for centuries
I was here 35 years ago its changed so much. I roamed around alone back then and took it all in myself. Its become a bit touristy now and taking my daughter wasnt the experience I had hoped for her. HOWEVER, our guide Simon, boy was he AMAZING! With every thing we saw he spoke with conviction and I could feel in his heart he is doing the job to help teach us because I did learn alot from him. He was FANTASTIC!! I thank him for the work in educating us with a feeling I've not had from tour guides any other places!!
Thank you for sharing such a personal and thoughtful review. We truly appreciate your perspective, especially having visited Auschwitz-Birkenau Memorial and Museum many years ago and returning now with your daughter. We understand that the experience has changed over time, and we value your honest feedback. At the same time, we are incredibly grateful for your wonderful words about Simon. It means so much to hear that his passion, sincerity, and dedication to educating visitors made such a strong impact on you. We’ll be sure to pass along your comments to him — guides like Simon work hard to ensure the history and stories are shared with the respect and emotion they deserve. Thank you again for visiting with us and for taking the time to leave such meaningful feedback.
It is crowded. Plan on walking and stairs. It is a very moving experience. You can't grasp the scope of the atrocity by reading it in a book.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts. You are absolutely right — visiting in person is a deeply moving experience that conveys the scale and reality of the tragedy in a way that books alone cannot fully capture. We also appreciate your practical advice regarding the walking, stairs, and crowds, which will certainly help future visitors prepare. Thank you again for your meaningful review.
Our guide, Magdalena, was incredibly professional and provided detailed explanations of the horror, chaos, and suffering endured by the poor people -Jews and those opposed to the Nazi movement-during that time. It was a somber but necessary experience to ensure we never forget what happened.
