This is a bus tour. And the bus was incredibly hot and uncomfortable. I thought the guide was very informative, but it was so uncomfortable on the bus we ended up leaving the tour.

If you are thinking about this tour, don’t do it. The description is very misleading as many of us thought we had private tours booked. We definitely paid private tour prices. Our “private” tour ended up with a group of 50 people on a bus. It was too hard to enjoy the tour this way as your were either driven by bus and stayed on the bus to see sights. We stopped in 2 towns, were told if we were hungry that there was no time for lunch but to grab fast food at Burger King or McDonald’s. I did not come all the way to France to eat fast food. Being a group 50 it was hard to enjoy the sights because you were just moving place to place quickly. I would suggest touring the town on your own in Marseille.

Viator private tours are clearly labeled as “private” directly in the title and usually cost at least three times more than group tours. We operate this tour in groups of 20–50 people, and a relaxed four-course lunch has never been part of this tour. That is why your fellow cruisers were happy to have different meals during their free time in Aix-en-Provence, according to their own preferences, while, for reasons unknown to us, you were drawn to McDonald’s. Olga our guide met us right as we exited the ship. I really preferred this type of small Group tour as we felt just like a group of friends. Olga was very knowledgeable and friendly. She share a lot of insights and made it fun for all. Her driver David was great as well. I definitely recommend this tour.
It was hugely disappointing and definitely not up to what we expect from a Viator tour. It may cause us to rethink any further tours with Viator. From the moment we left the ship and were given extremely poor directions to connect with our guide, to our tour having to be cut short, where we missed numerous items due to the delay earlier, it was frustrating, unprofessional, and very much not worth our money. All other parties on the bus that day were extremely upset about the events surrounding the debacle of getting us to the bus.

I honestly enjoyed Aix-en-Provence more than Marseille. It felt more relaxed and easier to walk around. The time in Marseille was short but still useful for a quick look.
This company mislead their tour. It was advertised as a hired driver with easy Cruise port access. You had to walk 1 full mile from Cruise terminal and it was a tour bus full of people not a private driver for $700 for only 4 people. We ended up canceling and hiring private taxi for $300 for the day. They have refused to refund our money. They have created many ads in TripAdvisor to mislead.

This tour was very poor. It didn’t start on time due to our tour being combined with two other tours (one from another cruise ship with a completely different docking time), resulting in ours starting late and the other cruise ship’s tour ending early. Had very little “free time” due to tour stops being cut short in order to “check the box” of the itinerary (ultimately resulting in our inability to receive any kind of refund). We literally had to run to our departing boat at end of the tour due to significant delays. Additionally, the speaker system used by the operators only worked part of the time, so we were unable to actually hear anything that was being said.

1. Inadequate directions to meeting point causing enormous stress as well the tour to start one hour late for passengers of one cruiseline and 2 hours late for a different cruise line. 2. They combined 2 different cruise lines with different starting and return times causing the tour to be rushed . 3. Some passengers departed the tour after the second stop due to fear they wouldn't make it back to the ship on time. They took a taxi back to the ship. 4. The tour guide was not engaged with the passengers. She would get off the bus and not wait for all the passengers to disembark before walking off without everyone.

We are not able to reduce the standard group pace to accommodate the slowest participant. We highly recommend that guests with limited walking abilities mind fellow cruisers with limited time ashore and consider booking a private tour instead of a shared group tour. We've had several tours with JAT and I think they were all 4-5 stars. This one is bad. They tried to accommodate 2 ships with different disembarkation/embarkation times probably to make more money. Norwegian was early by like at least 2 hours and they had to wait for us Princess. Of course they had to leave early too so that they cut or times short and missed last 2 listed on itenerary. They could have had 2 separate excursions with the amount of people they had anyway. This was not a cheap excursion and in good faith, they should give us all a partial refund. This excursion was on May 18, 2026.
