Description

Exciting, multimedia and emotional. The true story of the wall. A must for anyone who wants to grasp one of the most dramatic historical events in German history. The audiovisual exhibition spans a dramatic arc from the German division and the construction of the Berlin Wall over the Cold War and the fate of the victims of the Wall, to the historic events that caused the fall of the Berlin Wall. On more than 100 screens with original film recordings from the period from 1945 to 1990 - the most beautiful day of the Germans - the reunification! The exhibition deals with the post-war period, the temporary division of Germany by the victorious powers and the concomitant hardening of the relations between East and West, which finally brought the founding of the FRG and the GDR, as well as the first establishment of a wall around West Berlin.

Lot of history and needs updating

My wife and I visited The Wall Museum recently on weekend trip to Berlin. I really enjoy historical type museums and this one has lot of history. It is easy to find close to the East Side Gallery portion of the remaining wall. We got tickets ahead of time and fee was not too bad. There is lot of history in the museum. The museum needs a update. Was not too busy and staff was very friendly. Recommend if history is your thing.

A Divided City

The Wall Museum will give you an insight into what Germany was like during the Cold War and also more specifically what life was like in Berlin. I found it very interesting to learn about the various crossing points there were that were used to exchange spies and also that people used to try and get across from the East to the West. It was also very interesting to learn about the unification of the country and the footage of excited East Germans passing through border checkpoints and being reunited with family was quite moving. They have an excellent gift shop and the member of staff who served me was very friendly and a wealth of information which was very useful.

Wall museum

An absolutely fantastic gem. The curator took some of the pictures himself as the wall was coming down and this museum is his labour of love. Really well laid out and told the story in a great way. A must see in Berlin.

Interesting, but I expected more

It’s definitely informative and well laid out, with plenty of videos and photos that capture the tension of the Cold War and the emotions around the Wall’s fall. The staff were friendly and the location is great — right by the river and easy to reach. Still, I have to say I left feeling a bit underwhelmed. Many of the exhibits are mostly screens and photo panels, which you can find online or at other museums around the city. A few displays weren’t working... It’s a nice stop if you’re already in the area and interested in the topic, but not essential if your schedule is tight.

Trip to the wall museum

The staff at the Wall Museum were very friendly and welcoming. The museum itself is really informative, offering a clear and engaging look into the history of the Berlin Wall and life during the Cold War. The exhibits are well-organised. a must visit for anyone interested in modern history

The Wall Museum is a Must See!

I was staying at a hotel in the Eastside Gallery and I decided to check out The Wall Museum. I am so glad I did! Having lived through the entire existence of the Wall, I remember staying up all night on November 9, 1989 watching in disbelief as it as it fell. The museum chronicles the events leading up to the construction of the Wall, how close we came to WWIII due to conflicts along the the Wall, border enforcement rationale from DDR border guards stationed along the Wall, and political events leading up to its eventual demise. With excellently chronicled, well documented Cold War history, this museum should be on everyone’s Berlin itinerary!

A brilliant & interactive museum

We caught an Uber over to this museum and so glad we did. It was interactive set up with lots of items to see and films. It is up a set of stairs on the second floor of a restaurant building and best to use google maps to find the entrance. There is a long stretch of wall to see also and it’s all very thought provoking. The price is also reasonable compared to other museums in Berlin and the members of staff was so incredibly friendly, helpful and smiley. Would definitely recommend you visit.
