Such an amazing tour. Jorge was so knowledgeable and really taught us a lot. I added the portico tour and was able to witness a mass too. Highly recommend!!
I had the most amazing tour with Virginia. She was beyond knowledgeable about the church’s history, architecture, and artifacts. I’ve never had a better guide and would recommend going on this tour!
I really enjoyed this tour of the Cathedral and the Portico in Santiago de Compostella. Our guide Carolina was great and the history behind St James and the Cathedral was very interesting. I would recommend this tour to visitors.
We were supposed to take the tour at 10:00. Get notification that they had to reschedule to 12:00. Ok. Get there in good time. Tour guide arrives 10 mins prior to Tour. Takes group to shady spot to give preview. Ok. Spends the at least 30 minutes rambling on the history of the cathedral, goes off on tangents. Meanwhile, Tour is described as 45 mins for the museum, 45 minutes for the cathedral, and 30 minutes for the Portico option which we had. After his ramblings we then go to the museum where he spends almost the full 45 minutes explaining some of the exhibits and st times again, going off in a tangent. We get to the cathedral where spent roughly 15 mins and were informed that the Tour of the portico would be delayed until 2:45. Meaning we missed our window to visit and would have to stick around another hour to visit on our own. Which we could not do. Would've been better to buy tickets in advance and do it on your own.
Impressive structure it was ther before the discovery of the new world
The headsets were helpful in hearing the guide. It was great to listen to the guide and just follow without having to navigate. Jorge did a great job with our small group of eight.
The visit is very comprehensive, and seeing the Portico of Glory is definitely worth it. Our guide, Irene, explains the history of the cathedral, the city, and the importance of its conservation with great love and passion.
Guided tour of the museum, church and Gloria done. It's nice to have a story at all the sights. Without the tour, much less of the experience would have remained.
We enjoyed our 2 hour tour with Meira sp?) She was very knowledgeable and very friendly! We learned a lot. Just know that there are stairs, we had a couple ladies with canes and it was difficult for them.
There are steep steps in the museum area. The guide wasn't visible in the crowded square and not where the map pinpointed the meeting place. Too much time was spent in the museum and due to an early sailing, we paid for but didn't get to see the pirtico or much of the cathedral.
