Splendorosa

A huge variety of AC and DC art that with the audio guide went very well. You can't try to see everything. Climb in the Sistine Chapel for which there are no words to describe. Only view!

Mis sold as 'Skip the Line'

We arrived to collect our tickets as instructed, well before 11:00am on the day, and were told to go straight to Gate 3. However, when we approached Gate 3, instead of being able to “skip the line”, we were directed to the back of a very long general queue which stretched a considerable distance down the pavement. This was not a security queue, but the standard entry queue that everyone else appeared to be joining. While waiting, we checked our tickets and noticed they actually showed an entry time of 10:30am for the Vatican Museums. Naturally, this caused concern, as we had specifically been instructed to arrive 15 minutes before 11:00am for ticket collection. By the time we eventually reached the front of the queue at approximately 11:30am, the staff scanning tickets advised that we had already missed our 10:30am slot and initially suggested our tickets were no longer valid. We were almost denied entry entirely until I explained that we had been directed to the back of the queue by staff. This raises several concerns: Why were we instructed to arrive shortly before 11:00am when the printed ticket entry time was 10:30am? Why were we sold “skip the line” tickets when, in reality, we were required to join the same long general queue as everyone else? If ticket validity is strictly tied to the printed time slot, this needs to be communicated clearly to both customers and the staff directing queues, as the information provided to us was inconsistent and misleading. I feel the term “skip the line” was a misrepresentation of the experience provided, particularly as most visitors already appeared to have pre-booked tickets and were still required to queue for a significant amount of time.
