The tour is not led by a specific guide. You go into the tower and every 45 minutes there is a beefeater giving a tour to anyone who wants to hear it. I thought that we would meet someone and be taken on a tour and I spent about 30 minutes trying to figure out what I was supposed to do until someone told me. There were no instructions indicating the tour was at you leisure.
Best tour of our trip! Wayne (#418) was great. We all enjoyed his fun and interesting narrative. Highly recommend.
This tour was fantastic. The only problem was that on June 21st, the date we went, was the summer solstice and we were not warned that they would remove Stone Henge from the tour, due to the Druids going to do their celebratory rituals. Peter Robbit was a fantastic story teller of the history behind Windsor and Oxford. He pointed out things we wouldn't have otherwise seen. Our driver Zaw was also courteous and drove safely. Would definitely recommend.
Do NOT book with Tigets! Our flight was delayed and we could have gotten another time but Tigets is a third party and zero refunds or changes. The Tower of London and the Crown Jewels are fascinating but too expensive for the displays.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Unforgettable Family Experience at the Tower of London Our visit to the Tower of London was nothing short of outstanding. As a family traveling with two teenagers (who are not always enthusiastic about historical attractions!), we weren’t sure what to expect. To our surprise, the Tower captivated everyone from the moment we arrived until we reluctantly left at the end of the day. This is far more than a quick sightseeing stop—it’s a full-day adventure through centuries of history. Every section offers a fascinating glimpse into England’s past, covering the good, the bad, and everything in between. The stories of royalty, imprisonment, triumph, betrayal, and everyday life are brought to life in a way that is both educational and entertaining. Even our teenagers remained engaged throughout the entire experience, which may be the highest compliment we can give. A special thank you goes to Scott Kelly, whose tour was the highlight of our visit. He is an exceptional guide, gifted storyteller, and incredibly engaging speaker. His knowledge, humor, and ability to connect with visitors of all ages made history come alive. What impressed us most was that after his scheduled tour had ended, he generously chose to spend an additional 30 minutes with the group, continuing to share stories, answer questions, and entertain the crowd. His enthusiasm for the Tower and its history was evident in every word, and his dedication transformed an already excellent experience into a truly memorable one. If you’re visiting London, the Tower of London is an absolute must-see. Whether you’re a history enthusiast, a casual visitor, or traveling with children and teenagers, there is something here for everyone. We arrived expecting a few hours of sightseeing and left having experienced one of the highlights of our trip. We cannot recommend it highly enough.
Lots of walking- and stairs — in a very historical place with lots to see! What jewels! So much to see, staff for questions, all is friendly and enthusiastic
Fantastic exhibits. Pro tip: go first thing in the morning and then there is no wait to see the Crown Jewels It gets very busy around noon and then the lines begin to form.
I had to hit up the info center to figure out where the tour guide was to meet. They have a generic Beefeater tour guide that is assigned to a larger group that gathers up by the Bell Tower (left turn as you enter past the entrance gate) I would save money and get your tickets there so you don’t feel rushed by the timed ticket purchased on this app. Fun tour otherwise with the rest on your own. There are sporadic guard drills during the day. Make sure to grab a lunch beforehand as you can not leave the premises to re-enter. There is a cafe on premises with limited options. Lots of stairs to use especially for the White Tower going up and coming down. I liked the shaded areas as we went during the summer. But very crowded with school groups and tourists. Overall a fun day with my adult son tagging along.
The Tower of London tour with a beefeater is a definite must! We enjoyed learning the history, listening to stories, and seeing the sights!
My husband loved it! (Ex TA) but for me and my girls it was ok! The crown jewels were worth it and we loved the gift shop, it was beautiful grounds, we went on a boiling hot day, but if it was raining you would get soaked! Beef eaters were great, the guards were great, the middle castle has a lot of stairs but different levels to stop at so not too bad, there are water fountains and plenty of places to eat, but food is very overpriced! Staff are so helpful and friendly, I would recommend asking staff which way to go in the map, we did that as we had never been before and totally glad we did, great advice! They even let us in a few days later to exchange a broken necklace- couldn't speak highly enough of the staff! Thank you!
