Tour of the Pyramids

The trip to see the Pyramids including visits inside the King's and Queen's Chambers of the Great Pyramid was spolit by being told by the Tour Guide that the inner chambers were closed. This was incorrect, as we established by doing that visit after the guide had left. It would seem that the Guide wanted to pocket the difference in ticket entry prices. This spoilt our experience and we are unable to recommend this tour.

We booked the Pyramids tour with Ramses Tour Operator, and unfortunately it was a very disappointing experience. The tour was supposed to last 4 hours, but the entire experience, including pickup and drop-off, lasted less than 2 hours. The guide, Ahmed, did not speak English fluently, which made communication difficult. He also appeared annoyed with us and often walked several steps ahead, making it hard to follow or ask questions. Although we were informed in advance about the change of schedule, moving the tour from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM meant we lost the whole morning. The tour also ended before 3:00 PM, which felt extremely short compared to what was promised. Additionally, everything we asked to do came with extra costs. The guide suggested activities such as a camel ride, a felucca ride on the Nile, and even offering to guide us around Cairo, but all of these were overpriced. Overall, the experience was very disappointing. We strongly advise other travelers to be cautious when booking with Ahmed and Ramses Tour Operator.

This was the most incredible day of holidays hands down. I have been to Egypt before and so knowing how stressful it can be sometimes for tourists we decided to book a private tour to see the pyramids, sphinx, Memphis & saqqara through Viator & I am so happy we did. We were picked up at 8am by our tour guide Amir & driver and then we headed to see the pyramids, went inside the great pyramid, before moving on to the camel ride at a plateau viewpoint where you could see all of the pyramids, after this we went to see the sphinx & then stopped off for lunch before heading to Saqqara. At every site we went to Amir would take the time to explain all of the history of the area to us and answer all of our questions. If you’re really interested in the history like we were, then I would consider trying to book a private tour if it is in your budget as it allows you to ask everything and get a really good grasp of what you are looking at. Going inside the pyramids was unbelievable, it felt like we were inside the mummy movie. The only thing I would say about this is that you definitely need to have water with you as the pyramid in very very hot on the inside (and we were there in December) and you probably need to have some level of athletic ability as you have to climb upwards at a 45 degree bent over to a height of about just over a metre. One of the best things about this tour is that we didn’t get bothered by anyone at all whilst with Amir, and Amir was able to take photos of us together as a couple - any other couple that travels will know the pain of being somewhere incredible and not being able to get photos together or asking lots of strangers and worrying about losing your phone. The photos from that day are the best of our entire holiday, and the day as a whole was the best day that we have had in Egypt.

Ramses Tours has failed to facilitate reimbursement for two scheduled full-day tours despite its 100% satisfaction guarantee and cancelation policies. Our cruise ship never docked due to the unfortunate conflict in the area and Ramses Tours was notified immediately. They have failed to make reimbursement (of several hundred US dollars) for two tours despite repeated requests and have blamed their own Accounting Department, their credit card company provider as well as our credit card provider. They have provided meaningless information in the form of "screen shots" that allegedly "prove" reimbursement has been authorized however our credit card company has no record of receipt. Clearly an untrustworthy company.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Ahmed yesterday. We strolled along Al Muizz through the bazaar while Mohamed told us about the history of the area. It was an interesting and relaxing day. Ahmed helped us shop and gave us some guidance on our bargaining strategy. He also advised us on the best stop for lunch. We would definitely recommend this tour.
