Before making your way to Liberty Island, you will learn about Castle Clinton, a landmark representing not only the city’s growth but the growth of the nation. Built from 1808 to 1811, it was the first U.S immigration station where more than 8 million people arrived in the United States between 1855 to 1890.
You will also pass the Seaglass Carousel, a fish-themed carousel that represents a symbol of recovery in the area, which suffered damage from Hurricane Sandy in 2012. You will be able to appreciate the carousel’s design, as design along with construction took nearly a decade.
From here, you will board the ferry at the New York Harbour, part of the port of the New York. Lying at the mouth of the Hudson river, it is one of the largest natural harbours in the world.
You will make your way to Liberty Island, located just off the southern tip of Manhattan Island. Here you will see the infamous Statue of Liberty, the highlight of your trip. You will learn all about her history and how she came to be on the island.
Next you will visit Ellis Island, an island that contains a museum and former immigration inspection centre. It was the nation’s busiest immigration inspection station from 1892 to 1954. *Ellis Island Immigration Museum is unguided* Guiding is not permitted inside the museum, but your guide will share all the information with you before you enter.
During your time on Ellis Island you will see the American Immigrant Wall of Honour, a permanent exhibit of individual or family names. It is the only place in the U.S where an individual can honour his or her family heritage at a National Monument.

It was great. Charlie was wonderful and knowledgeable. He went out of his way to help us and was very personable and would do any your with him.
Kevin was super knowledgeable and personable. We had our young son with us and he included him with everything so he stayed engaged. Kevin seemed to have interesting anecdotes and facts about everything we saw and was a great storyteller. A great day!
Charlie was our guide on this tour and he was fantastic! We had my 9 year old daughter with us and he was really good about being sure to include her, ask her questions, get her thinking, and was able to bring the tour to a relatable level for her. Charlie was very knowledgeable, charismatic, and made sure we had the best experience. We wanted to see our family members names on the wall of honor at Ellis Island and he took us right to their spot! He was also gracious enough to offer up some great food spots and a list of activities that he thought would interest my 9 year old!
Charlie was engaging, knowledgeable, personable and theatrical. Excellent tour guide. We all enjoyed having Charlie as our personal tour guide.
Our tour guide Cherie was excellent! She was knowledgeable, professional, and funny. Thanks to her we learned so much, and we had a very enjoyable experience. I highly recommend Cherie!

Charlie was extremely knowledgeable and very articulate. We enjoyed the details. Would highly recommend this to anyone.
Lots of good information, but we would have loved to have have gotten to go into pedestal. Thanks Charlie
Charles M led us on an educational, engaging, and energizing tour of the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. He found quiet spots for us to explore and discuss and navigated us through the crowds quickly. We gained new insights into the history of these two iconic pieces of America’s history.
We have 3 kids, ages 10, 7, and 7. Charlie made sure to focus on them and keeping their attention. I think they actually learned some things. Great success!
