Small-Group Lake Como Tour from Milan by Train

We met our guide at the train station. We were the only couple on the tour. The guide was very friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The walking tour lasted about an hour and a half, then he helped us purchase tickets for the ferry and gave us directions to a restaurant in a small village. We were on our own after that and returned on the train with the tickets he purchased for us.

Renzo did a great job keeping the information shared interesting and personalized. He did an amazing job including the 4 year old and 6 year old who were with us in the experience.

We met our tour guide Amelio at the Cadorna train station. Train ride was comfortable to Como. Once there we took a break for espressos, then a walk tour through the city. The highlight was the tour inside the basilica. Afterwards, Amelio pointed out a few restaurants for lunch that were off the beaten path. Amelio was very knowledgeable about the lakes, city and region. He was an enjoyable guide.

Our small group ended up being a private tour. Emilio was a knowledgeable tour guide for the town of Como. Unrelated to our guide, this tour was very expensive and did not include the funicular tour or more importantly a lake cruise. We did expect to hear more about the homes around the lake on this tour. On our own, we dined in a cafe overlooking the lake. It was an hour by train from Milan and depending on where you’re staying could be additional time to the train station. Lastly, instructions to meet our guide were poor. Luckily, Emilio found us!

Our guide was excellent. Timing was good. Meeting point wasnt clearly communicated. Overall a nice experience

We had an absolutely fantastic half-day tour from Milan to Lake Como with Renzo today! From start to finish, it was a perfect experience. Renzo is incredibly knowledgeable and shared fascinating insights into the history of the lake, its stunning architecture, and the unique blend of styles that make this region so special. He also made the day so much fun, being not only informative but also kind and attentive to all our needs. We had the chance to see the lake's breathtaking beauty, explore charming spots, and even get tips for great shopping. Renzo knew exactly when to give us space to wander on our own and enjoy lunch, ensuring the day felt relaxed and enjoyable. We couldn't have asked for a better guide or a better day. I highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to experience Lake Como in the best possible way!

We chose this trip at the end of our Milan visit. It was an excellent decision because we had a terrific guide, Renzo from Your Travel Diary. As a local he had a wealth of information about the history of the Lake Como area, the city itself, the even recommended sites & local restaurants. Having a knowledgeable guide talk to you beats reading books & signs any time -- especially when you have been touring for 2 weeks. We also picked this tour because we could return by train to Milan after the tour with Renzo finished around noon. He handled our tickets and left us with excellent suggestions and answered all our questions! We were only caught short because the weather was warm & sunny. I think every family from Milan took the train to the Lake that day! It was crowded! We also planned to take a boat around the lake & we waited too long to purchase tickets --- all sold out! And a private boat was too costly. Our only other disappointment was that the shops were closed on Sundays (our fault we should have done more research). We were glad we wore comfortable shoes because we defiantly got our steps in that day at Lake Como! However, our excellent guide Renzoand experience was the highlight! We'll just have to return again on a week-day!

Our guide was great! Very knowledgeable and personable. It is an expensive tour and wasn’t sure why we had to buy his boat ticket. Regardless would recommend!

Our guide had great knowledge of Lake Como - current and past! He offered up great suggestions for local spots as opposed to touristy spots. He gave us maps, his phone number and explained things in great detail. Overall, a great experience.

The trip started off quite nicely, as we were met promptly at the starting point. Access to the train, and the discussion during the train ride was enlightening. Once we arrived at Como, the pace, at which he lead, the tour was quite comfortable, and the information, history met all of our needs. Our particular guide had actually lived in Como, and that was quite helpful I believe. Choosing between this in the full day tour, I think we made the best choice. As we had time to just absorb the history and the environment after the tour was over, without being overly exhausted.
